Why don’t we evangelize?

Put heads down and ask the following:

How many of you have been saved and baptized

How many of you know someone who is lost/not saved

Raise your hand if you have even a slight desire to see people saved.

1-10

Raise your hand if you have shared the gospel with a lost person in the last year.

Last 6 months?

Raise your hand if you have prayed for someone to come to know Christ in the last 6 months.

The last month?

Raise your hand if you have fear of some kind that keeps you from sharing the Gospel.

Raise your hand if you wish that fear wouldn’t prohibit you from sharing the Gospel.

Raise your hand if you if you would boldy share the Gospel if you were able to erase any possible fear.

Raise your hand if you think reaching lost people may be worth the fear and awkwardness

We don’t evangelize because often times the Gospel just isn’t *good news* to us

Solution?

Evaluate your life currently, embrace the truth of the Gospel.

We don’t evangelize because we simply don’t pray as we should

Matthew 9:35–38

Therefore!

-> PRAY

Despite all Jesus did, the disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray

Mark 1:35

Spend time in prayer for ourselves and for others

Pray for us to never the see the Gospel as anything other than *GOOD NEWS* |BE IN AWE|

Pray that God would use each of us as instruments to save people & build His Kingdom

Pray specifically for conviction of our own personal sin.

Sin hinders us in ministry.

Isaiah 59:1-2 “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.”

Pray for specific people who are not believers

Romans 10:1 “Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.”

Pray that God would give us opportunities to share the gospel with these specific people

Colossians 4:2-4 “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.

At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.”

Pray for God to arrange circumstances in their lives to point them to Christ

Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

For the Holy Spirit to convict them of their sin and lostness

John 16:8-11 “And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.”

Pray for us to be bold, to not have fear.

If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies.

And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay.

If Hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.
