Today we are reading through chapters three and four of Joshua.‌ I call this lesson “Taking the first step” ‌This is the actual crossing of the Jordan, but in reality it is just the first step. ‌The battles begin when you reach the other side. ‌This is just the first of many obstacles. ‌But how you take this first step is very important. ‌If you remember what you learned while taking your first steps, it will help you in taking every other step that comes after.

There's not one word that we don't read and apply to our lives on our Sunady night Bible studies. We believe the whole Bible for the whole church for the whole of history.

Reference to Caleb and Joshua (the book of Numbers) is often quoted when faith is being discussed or preached. But have we stopped or paused to think if Joshua and Caleb were acting out their faith in God? As I read this text and pondered over it, as well as debating this with others (dare I say, inquisitive minds!) here in this church, I concluded that Caleb and Joshua were not acting out faith when they said what they said.

This verse says volumes about godly leadership and its impact on a community or family. Living for Christ demands leadership, because our nature is to do what is pleasing in our own eyes. Godly leadership provides accountability, reminders and examples of what it looks like to follow Christ instead of living in the world. What does it mean to be a godly leader?

Come boldly with enduring faith in God's final promise that the Promised Conquering King is the Perfect High Priest who offered the ultimate sacrifice, so don't turn back!
