The Scripture is full of the goodness of the Lord. He greatly desires to bless everybody--and he has! But the same book which reveals his blessings also reveals his warnings to his people who live in persistent rebellion against his almighty authority. The Lord gives a massive, devasting list of curses, couched as warnings to his people. But what about New Testament truth? Hasn't God taken away the curse because Jesus became a curse for us? Come with the Grace United crew as we, with trembling hearts hear God's warnings, "On Steroids" to his people as proclaimed in both Old and New Testaments.

The following sermon is going to begin with the parable of the Good Samaritan to emphasize how important it is for us to not just be hearers but doers of His word. The final part of the sermon is going to focus on Mary and Martha’s different approach to pleasing Christ in Luke 10:38-42 and suggest that to please God one must obtain a balance of both service and reflection.

Now is the time to serve the Lord... 1. Because our lives are speeding by (vs. 12). 2. Because God's Light is still shining (vs. 12-16). 3. Because God wants more people to be saved (vs. 16). 4. Because the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand (vs. 17).

If we love Jesus... 1. We should confess our love for the Lord (vs. 15-17). 2. We should commit to work for the Lord (vs. 15-17). 3. We should continue to trust in the Lord (vs. 18-19).

Jesus will... 1. Help us count the cost of following Him (vs. 18-20). 2. Remind us of His sacrifice (vs. 19-20). 3. Stress the urgency of our service (vs. 21-22). 4. Reveal His greatness to us (vs. 23-27).

1. Serving God involves living where God wants you to live. 2. Serving God is about having a willing heart Luke 13 "as a hen gathers chicks..." 3. Serving God is not about recognition but serving others for the kingdom. Motive should be to follow God.

The Lord wants us to: 1. Be aware of our adversaries (vs. 17-18, 21-22). 2. Count on Him when we have a crisis (vs. 19-20). 3. Know that His salvation is sure (vs. 22). 4. Carry on our work for Christ (vs. 23).

1. He calls us to His service (vs. 1a). 2. He equips us for His service (vs. 1b). 3. He wants us to reach our God-given potential (vs. 2-4). 4. He sends us to specific people (vs. 5-6). 5. He sends us with the good news of His Kingdom (vs. 7).

What does it really mean to be a Christian? 1. Relating to the Father’s family. 2. Receiving the Lord's touch. 3. Rising to serve the Savior.

God wants us to: 1. Be dedicated to our duty (vs. 5). 2. See our work from a spiritual point of view (vs. 5-7). 3. Believe that we will receive rewards for our good work (vs. 8). 4. Lead others with our minds on the Lord (vs. 9).

Jesus wants us... 1. To make His message our priority (vs. 5-8). 2. To trust in His ability (vs. 8-10). 3. To follow His plan for our service (vs. 11-13). 4. To recognize the danger of rejecting Him (vs. 14-15). 5. To walk in the wisdom of the Lord (vs. 16).

We are on holy ground today, and this means: 1. God wants to contact us (vs. 1-5). 2. God wants to care for our needs (vs. 6-9). 3. God wants to call us into His service (vs. 9-10). 4. God wants to give us the confidence to go (vs. 11-15).

How can we walk in the wisdom of the Lord? 1. Set the highest standards (Eph 5:15). 2. Ask for God's assistance (James 1:5). 3. Treasure our time (Eph 5:16; Rom 13:11-14). 4. Understand the Lord's will for our lives (Eph 5:17).

How can we be better disciples? 1. Avoid distractions (vs. 17-21, 23). 2. Accept the difficulties of following Jesus (vs. 22-23). 3. Avoid pointless disputes (vs. 24). 4. Live with Christlike devotion (vs. 25-28).

We serve a God who is worthy to serve. A living God who is not in the tomb. A God with a plan who has given us His word, the Bible. A God who loved us and died on a cross so that we might have eternal life.

We have to: 1. Overcome our selfish mindset (vs. 1). 2. Use God's standards for greatness (vs. 1). 3. Follow the right examples for greatness (vs. 2-4). 4. Focus on the right mission (vs. 5).

We all come from someplace, from some people. Our past and our people were not perfect. We all come out of a land or idolaters, people who put something above God. We need to be aware of our past and how it has shaped us, but we should never let our past limit how we serve God.

Salvation is an amazing thing, God in His great love provided a way for us to enter into an eternal relationship with him. But God has called us to more than just getting into Heaven, He wants us to grow as Christians to walk with Christ, to abide in Him. As children of God, we need to continue to grow as we serve God and love others.

We can either take honor and glory for our selves in how we live or we can give it to God, sharing honor and glory with God is not an option. We cannot honor God if we are not living the way He has called us to live.

Sometimes we can feel like God does not love us. That is how Israel felt when Malachi gave his prophetic message. We need to know God loves us. We need to respond to His loving kindness by giving Him the Honor and the Glory for all that He has done for us.
