I love Paul’s use of rhetoric here. He gave us the chronological rundown of our salvation beginning with his foreknowledge and ending in our glory. So, now he’s like, “if God has provided all the necessary means for life and godliness, for salvation, and for glorification…who can be against us.” (Preach “who”?)

“He who did not spare His own Son...”

A blank check…spare no expense

Freely give us all things. (God has never charged you for anything)

No Charges (v.33)

Now please don’t miss the importance of Paul’s repetition about these legal terms. He is not saying that there are not legitimate charges against you. There are. We have been guilty of the things we could be accused of. What he is saying is that there is nobody who is able to find the charges because they have been expunged from your record.

No Condemnation (v.34)

If there is no one to charge us, then who can condemn us? There is nobody eligible to condemn us to hell when they don’t have a heaven or hell to put you in.

“Jesus is the one who died...”-Jesus has already served my death sentence. Jesus has already paid my debt. Jesus has already served my time. Jesus has already died.

But, he didn’t stay dead. He is at the right hand of God, constantly and eternally, interceding for us.

The accuser of the brethren. Has some trumped up charges against the Church.

He says, your honor…Them folks at the GMPBC, as you well know have broken your laws and disobeyed your word. They have sinned every sin I could think of. They haven’t always loved their neighbor…they have lied to spouses…they’ve dishonored their parents…they have idolized their material possessions…they have abused every substance....they have lied on their taxes…they’ve stolen money they didn’t work for…They’ve eaten more than their (big ones) fill…they’ve lusted after celebrities…they sneaked candy into the movies… driven pass the speed limit...and just today while the preacher was praying their mind wondered off to only you know where. These people are guilty and must died. “Whoever breaks one commandment is guilty of breaking them all”
