Reading:
Genesis 2:7-9 “then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”
Introduction:
God recorded the days of creation, He preserved His words so that all generations can have questions answered like: Where did we come from, Where did all of this come from, How can all of this exist?
Each and every one of us have contemplated these questions and where do we turn for answers to these questions?
Many times we ask other people what they think!
We go searching for where truth may be found: books, internet, etc...
In doing so we open ourselves up to adopting someone’s point of view or someone’s opinion on a subject.
Truth is what people want. They want the truth for those questions.
Our world has unfortunately created a schism in truth.
That schism is between science and God. Science is not anti-God and God is not anti-science.
Unadulterated Science is awesome; it reveals truth and affirms what God says about how He made this world.
God’s words to us for where we came from and how all of this began, even the why, is all written down for us in His word; but He leaves the searching to understand it in our hands.
When we study creation without any pre conceived conclusions it can reveal a loving, powerful, wise, creator God.
This is why we are going through creation.
The prayer is that you have the confidence to say that God created this world in 7-24hr days.
To bring out parts of creation that defy shoot down the millions of years theory.
Examples: creatures that defy evolution, natural laws, saltiness of the ocean, etc…
It isn’t a mystery since God revealed it to us!
We can read many accounts of peoples life changing or something big taking place because of a “revelation”. I think that we misunderstand that word greatly. Revelation means: “The act of disclosing or discovering to others what was before unknown to them; appropriately, the disclosure or communication of truth to men by God himself, or by his authorized agents, the prophets and apostles.” - Noah Webster 1828 dictionary.
The days of creation are a revelation and should be since what is being told could change a person’s life because it shifts or gives birth to faith in God.
It points out the creator and we can know Him.
let’s get into day 6.
Transition:
Day 6 is the pinnacle of the days of creation.
Day 6 begins with:

I. Land Animals.

Genesis 1:24 “And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.”
Right away we have a specific statement about all animals which is supported by other verses:
Genesis 1:11 (ESV)
And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so.
Genesis 1:12 (ESV)
The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:21 (ESV)
So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:24 “And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.”
A “Kind” in this passage is defined as: A Family, a class, a species.
Examples:
1. Mammal kind
2. Bird Kind
3. Fish Kind
4. Reptile Kind
5. Amphibian Kind
6. Invertebrate Kind
These are the 6 different kinds of animals on our planet; within those kinds are subset classifications; but all stay within their kind.
A bird can’t change into the Mammal kind. (Changing “Kind” classifications can’t happen, and never has)
We have within this passage 3 different types of living creatures.
Genesis 1:24 “And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.”
The animals created here are the:
A. Livestock:
Cattle
This can be described as dumb tame beasts.
The animals that dwell with man, especially those that bear burdens.
B. Creeping Things:
Ground crawlers
These are animals that are small or “low” animals.
C. Beasts:
Lions, Tigers, Bears… oh My.
These are the beasts which are wild and ferocious.
A perspective about creation here is that these creatures are the fulfilling of the potential for what was created on day three.
In God’s wisdom He set a stage now here He makes living creatures that will occupy the area He created for them.
“Form and Fill”
Transition:
God never does anything without a purpose!
Each and every part of creation is FOR a purpose, WITH a purpose, and ON purpose!
That translates to you and I too. We are included in His perfection!
Hence the next part is God’s creation of:

II. Man.

Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.””
We are privy to:
A. God’s Plurality!
Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.””
Illustration:
History has proven to us that when someone is assuming leadership they have hidden agendas.
A result from this is that we don’t trust a lot of people in government or political positions.
God has never falsely presented Himself.
Right off the bat God proclaims Himself in that:
He is one God.
He occupies three offices.
These offices are thee authority over 3 realms:
Spiritual. (Holy Spirit)
Physical. (Jesus Christ)
Mental. (God the Father)
Here in verse :26 He gives this truth:
The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit are all present at the Creation.
Genesis 1:2 “The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”
Psalm 104:30 “When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.”
The Holy Spirit is active in the creation.
Colossians 1:15-17 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
Jesus is active in the creation.
God the Father is the main office being presented here in Genesis.
Transition:
The triune God exists outside of time and were all present and active in creation of all things.
He tells us plainly a truth that many will say isn’t possible or doesn't exist.
Many times it seems like people tend to say that it is impossible.
Translation: I don’t understand it so it isn’t possible.
Correction: I don’t understand the chemical process of making crack does that mean it doesn’t exist? That would be ridiculous.
That is why having faith that every word is perfect and He is worthy of our trust and devotion.
Point:
Each and every one of us have no excuse to admit that God is a triune God and all we know and see is attributed to Him!
The authority is His; not ours. We are all accountable to His authority.
He isn’t just the God of creation, these 3 offices give Him authority over the Mental, Spiritual, and Physical of existence.
Beware and be aware of this reality!
We, just like the moon, are reflections of Him since we are created:
B. In His Image.
Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.””
This passage is the stated plan:
Create a being:
That is a reflection of God.
That possess authority.
That has stewardship of what is created.
It was a simple plan:
Create a steward for what is created.
Enjoy the fellowship!
Transition:
We don’t only reflect His image or outline; but we also are made up of 3 parts:
Body.
Soul.
Spirit.
One person; but three distinct offices of that person.
Another aspect to God’s image and our relation to it goes further.
We are like Him since we were given:
Intelligence
Knowledge
Spiritual understanding
Creativity
Wisdom
Love, Compassion, Holiness, etc...
We are unlike any of the other created beings; since we are set apart as God’s special creation.
- We are special because we are:
C. Hand Crafted.
Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Genesis 2:7 “then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”
God Himself formed us.
It is personal: He personally formed Adam and Eve with His own hands.
Guess what: He hasn’t stopped forming each person:
Psalm 139:14-16 “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”
Following the personal forming we needed to be filled with life so:
God filled us with His Spirit:
Genesis 2:7 “then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”
Transition:
We have life because of His breath of grace given to us.
Point:
You and I are the special image bearers of God Himself.
This means we have the bar set really high.
Illustration:
In the sports world people set records.
Do you know the time for the fastest mile?
In 1855 - Charles Westhall set a record of: 4:28
Broken many times by just a few seconds.
In 2019 - Yomif Kejelcha set a new record of: 3:47.01
I bet men will continue breaking records that are set for every different sport.
But if there was record that could never be beat it would be:
Trying to meet the standard that God set - Perfection!
We were proper image bearers!
We at this moment of creation could meet that standard; but here and now: not even close!
Perfection is unobtainable. It’s like a toddler trying to run at the speed of light!
We messed up God’s perfect creation. To know that fact allows us the opportunity to respond:
Ask God to forgive you and restore that broken connection to Him! He will do it!
Even if God stopped there it would’ve been great; but He didn’t, He continued to go above and beyond with:

III. God’s Proclamation.

Genesis 1:28 “And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.””
God’s first statement about us:
A. We are blessed!
The animals were blessed and we are an higher creation than animals, especially considering
We are image bearers.
We have His spirit of life within us.
Transition:
What is the blessing?
The blessing is given not as a suggestion; but:
B. The Command:
Genesis 1:28 “And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.””
The basics of this first part is:
Have kids!
Multiply and fill the earth with children!
One commentator states:
“This blessing could only come from God, for He alone can give life and make it productive”
The blessing or command doesn’t stop at reproducing with children.
He states that He wants us to subdue and have dominion!
Possess control over the animal kingdom!
We have privileges; but not without responsibility!
Transition:
We are a blessed part of creation; but are the only ones given responsibilities to possess authority over the created animals.
God seems to go over the rules or the expectations:
C. He recaps:
Genesis 1:29-30 “And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.”
Illustration:
You are visiting a person’s vacation home and they meet you upon arrival to let you in and make the tour and give you the “run down”.
Where the towels are, water turn on, fuse box, gas and generator with how to hook it up to the cabin, trash, etc...
Before they say their goodbye and good luck they remind you the information is all in a folder on the counter and to call if you need anything.
It seems like this is what God is doing with Adam and Eve.
Giving them the run down on all of creation, earth, and call if they need something.
What He says is:
Every plant with seed and each tree with seed is your food.
That is a statement of provision and sustaining!
Every animal, bird, and little creepers have their food, you don’t have to feed them they can do it.
Point:
God prepared all things for the moment He created mankind.
Do you not think that God will provide for all that you need as His children?
We are still living with the commands given:
Be fruitful
Have authority
Authority isn’t just leading loudly, it should be leading by living according to His word because you trust and have faith in it.
We should want to live our life as if it was purchased for a great price that couldn’t be paid because He paid it for you!
Your not trying to pay Him back, you are grateful and live accordingly.
?Do you live thankful, faithful and firm in your faith?
You can - from these pages here at the beginning of all things up until now; God’s workings can be observed.
He is always faithful and true. He continues extending grace and a way back into His presence when we mess it up.
We would do good to remember that fact and recognize how we don’t deserve it: that’s His mercy!
Transition:
God again states His confirming statement, just in case we were unsure of the length of time it took Him to create:
The land animals and Man.
Genesis 1:31 “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.”
It was Good!
Wait a second...
There is extra this time.
Genesis 1:31 “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.”
Why do you suppose that God wrote “very good”?
If you remember each realm that was created:
The Sky
The Water
The Land
Each of them were void of life. Now that isn’t the case anymore.
They are teaming with life.
We have Planets, Sun, Moon, Fish, Birds, Cattle, Creeping things, Beasts and as the most precious of it all there is you and I.
“A 24hr Period”
Point:
God’s perfect plan was finished and it isn’t unattended. He created a keeper for it all:
Mankind.
He gave us this responsibility; but He also made us entirely equipped and in need of nothing.
How many times have you been employed and you had to pay for your own things? Including your own car to get there!
God is incredible!
Conclusion:
God has you here on purpose! He hasn’t changed from the moment He created the world.
He continues providing you what you need for fulfilment of His will and equips you for what your supposed to do.
you have the information about creation. Be reassured of your faith and don’t be worried about peoples misguided science, use the real science to point them to God and disciple them through creation.
Pray.
