Reading:
Genesis 2:7-9 “then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food.
The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”
Introduction:
God recorded the days of creation, He preserved His words so that all generations can have questions answered like: Where did we come from, Where did all of this come from, How can all of this exist?
Each and every one of us have contemplated these questions and where do we turn for answers to these questions?
Many times we ask other people what they think!
We go searching for where truth may be found: books, internet, etc...
In doing so we open ourselves up to adopting someone’s point of view or someone’s opinion on a subject.
Truth is what people want.
They want the truth for those questions.
Our world has unfortunately created a schism in truth.
That schism is between science and God.
Science is not anti-God and God is not anti-science.
Unadulterated Science is awesome; it reveals truth and affirms what God says about how He made this world.
God’s words to us for where we came from and how all of this began, even the why, is all written down for us in His word; but He leaves the searching to understand it in our hands.
When we study creation without any pre conceived conclusions it can reveal a loving, powerful, wise, creator God.
This is why we are going through creation.
The prayer is that you have the confidence to say that God created this world in 7-24hr days.
To bring out parts of creation that defy shoot down the millions of years theory.
Examples: creatures that defy evolution, natural laws, saltiness of the ocean, etc…
It isn’t a mystery since God revealed it to us!
We can read many accounts of peoples life changing or something big taking place because of a “revelation”.
I think that we misunderstand that word greatly.
Revelation means: “The act of disclosing or discovering to others what was before unknown to them; appropriately, the disclosure or communication of truth to men by God himself, or by his authorized agents, the prophets and apostles.”
- Noah Webster 1828 dictionary.
The days of creation are a revelation and should be since what is being told could change a person’s life because it shifts or gives birth to faith in God.
It points out the creator and we can know Him.
let’s get into day 6.
Transition:
Day 6 is the pinnacle of the days of creation.
Day 6 begins with:
I. Land Animals.
Genesis 1:24 “And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.”
And it was so.”
Right away we have a specific statement about all animals which is supported by other verses:
Genesis 1:11 (ESV)
And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.”
And it was so.
Genesis 1:12 (ESV)
The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind.
And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:21 (ESV)
So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.
And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:24 “And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.”
And it was so.”
A “Kind” in this passage is defined as: A Family, a class, a species.
Examples:
1. Mammal kind
2. Bird Kind
3. Fish Kind
4. Reptile Kind
5. Amphibian Kind
6. Invertebrate Kind
These are the 6 different kinds of animals on our planet; within those kinds are subset classifications; but all stay within their kind.
A bird can’t change into the Mammal kind.
(Changing “Kind” classifications can’t happen, and never has)
We have within this passage 3 different types of living creatures.
Genesis 1:24 “And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.”
And it was so.”
The animals created here are the:
A. Livestock:
Cattle
This can be described as dumb tame beasts.
The animals that dwell with man, especially those that bear burdens.
B. Creeping Things:
Ground crawlers
These are animals that are small or “low” animals.
C. Beasts:
Lions, Tigers, Bears… oh My.
These are the beasts which are wild and ferocious.
A perspective about creation here is that these creatures are the fulfilling of the potential for what was created on day three.
In God’s wisdom He set a stage now here He makes living creatures that will occupy the area He created for them.
“Form and Fill”
Transition:
God never does anything without a purpose!
Each and every part of creation is FOR a purpose, WITH a purpose, and ON purpose!
That translates to you and I too.
We are included in His perfection!
Hence the next part is God’s creation of:
II.
Man.
Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.
And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.””
We are privy to:
A. God’s Plurality!
Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.
And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.””
Illustration:
History has proven to us that when someone is assuming leadership they have hidden agendas.
A result from this is that we don’t trust a lot of people in government or political positions.
God has never falsely presented Himself.
Right off the bat God proclaims Himself in that:
He is one God.
He occupies three offices.
These offices are thee authority over 3 realms:
Spiritual.
