Paul is talking to the people of Thessaloniki about actual work and earning their own living, but I think in todays day and time we can draw the parallel to our spiritual work.
We run the risk of becoming spiritually idle.
We let the faith of those around us carry us and don’t do our own work.
We can become spiritually idle and that idleness leads to disorder because we aren’t in a ready position to receive from God what the Holy Spirit has for us.
How do we do our spiritual work...
1 - We read the word.
2 - We seek the Lord in prayer
3 - We fellowship with other believers and stay in community.
By doing these things we do our spiritual work and stay ready.
What happens if we aren’t ready...
1 - we miss opportunities
2 - we can be lead astray
3 - we can lead others in the wrong direction
Vrs 13
We know what is right, we know what is good.
Its up to us to do that good.
