Jill Price: The women that can’t forget.
Not being able to ever forget every mistake you have ever done.
Can’t forget - pg 33:
We’re either in sin or in Christ
We’re either guilty or forgiven
We’re either sinner or saint
Things people feel guilty about and have a hard time forgiving themselves for:
Not spending enough time with their children when they we younger.
Not finishing school or a degree.
Abusing their body with over indulgence with food, alcohol, smoking, or other substances.
Having an extra marital affair.
Spending money they don’t have.
Embezzling money from work.
Stealing other peoples property.
Philippians 3:6 NIV
6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.
Philippians 3:13 NIV
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
Galatians 1:13 NIV
13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.
Acts 22:4–5 NIV
4 I persecuted the followers of this Way to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison, 5 as the high priest and all the Council can themselves testify. I even obtained letters from them to their associates in Damascus, and went there to bring these people as prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished.
Acts 26:10–11 NIV
10 And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests I put many of the Lord’s people in prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them. 11 Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme. I was so obsessed with persecuting them that I even hunted them down in foreign cities.
Why should you forgive yourself?
It is what God wants you to do.
Ephesians 4:31–32 NIV
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Why should you forgive yourself?
2. Satan does not want you to forgive yourself.
Ephesians 5:17 NIV
17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
2 Corinthians 2:10–11 NIV
10 Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
If you have ever struggled or know someone that has struggled with looking at things on the internet that are not honoring to God the same story Satan’s play book is the same.
Satan tempts: Go ahead and look at it. It is not going to hurt anybody. No one will know. You are good most of the time and you deserve this.
Then he moves from cheerleader to prosecutor. - Right?
Satan: How could you look at that? You are disgusting. I thought you were a Christ follower?
Satan knows if he can keep you in your guilt and your shame you will be less effective in your witness for Christ, and helping others.
Why should you forgive yourself?
3. You will have inner peace and freedom from the bondage of guilt.
2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Why should you forgive yourself?
6. It will enable you to fulfill all God has in mind for you and keep you from being paralyzed by the past.
One of the most Godly men at my last church would not accept a position on our church board because of a past sin (when he was in his 20’s / now in his 60’s) he had confessed to God and his spouse. But he could not forgive himself. Satan in trying to hold you back. - Later became one of our elders and helped lead and build an incredible recover ministry.

The 4 R's of Self-Forgiveness
Responsibility - Accept Responsibility for Your Actions
Remorse - Express Remorse for Your Mistakes
Restoration - Make Amends and Apologize
Renewal - Learn From the Experience
Have you ever had a pebble in your shoe or sandal? The tiniest of rock can agitate and give discomfort. What do you do when you have this agitation that keeps bugging you? You stop. Sit down and you remove it.
Don’t you think it is time to address the forgiveness you have toward yourself?
