Baby Dedication Outline
Introduction: This morning we want to dedicate Sutton to the Lord.
Will the parents and family please join us on stage?
Scriptures:
1 Samuel 1:22-28
Matthew 19:13-15,
Luke 2:21-24
The presenting of a child in dedication is a serious matter.
It involves responsibilities with which we shall be charged.
Address to Congregation: The family is a divine institution ordained of God from the beginning of time.
Children are a heritage of the Lord committed by Him to their parents for care, protection, and training for His glory.
Jochebed of old trained her own child, Moses, after having given him to the lord.
Hannah recognized that her Child belonged to God. Mary also brought the infant Jesus to the temple.
The parents of this child likewise recognize the sacredness of being parents and bring back to the Lord the treasure that the Lord has entrusted to them.
In doing so, they recognize and publicly acknowledge their responsibility to nurture and train this child in the ways of the Lord.
Charge to Parents: Parents, the first responsibility is yours.
Before God, to whom you bring your child I charge each of you:
That you will pray for them and live a godly life before them.
That they would learn what it means to follow Christ from you.
That you Make your home a place where they would receive Christian instruction.
That you would be faithful to church and faithful to bring them to church so that they may grow in their knowledge of God.
As you stand here before God and this congregation, do you solemnly undertake to raise this child in the fear and admonition of the Lord?
Do you promise, as much as possible, to live godly and consistent lives before him?
Charge to Congregation: The church, which through its minister, accepts a child in dedication and assumes a responsibility before God.
With this in mind, I charge this congregation:
That you will do all that you can to provide and support a place of worship and instruction in this community where this child, should he continue to live here, may hear the full counsel of God’s word.
That you will set an example by your lives and maintain an atmosphere in your church which shall inspire him to desire to follow Christ.
That you will pray for his salvation
If you are willing to accept this charge, please answer “With God’s help, we will.”
Prayer (Pick up Child and Pray for them) - I now want to invite this congregation to stretch their hands this direction and pray for this young man and this family.
