What is your current belief or understanding about what happens after we die? Where does this belief come from?
Read Matthew 28:1-10. How did Mary and Mary Magdalene respond to seeing Jesus? What does their response tell you about what kind of resurrection this was (physical or spiritual)? Why does this matter?
Read Luke 23:39-43. What does this story tell you about what happens the moment you die? Do you find this hopeful? Why or why not?
Read 2 Corinthians 5:6-10. What does it mean to be “away” from our bodies? What is Paul saying about our resurrection in this passage?
What are you most looking forward to in the resurrection as far as it relates to your physical body? How does this week’s teaching give you hope about what is to come?
Paul wrote that Christ will one day “transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body” (Philippians 3:21). What does it mean when he refers to Christ’s “glorious body”? What would your body be like if it were glorious?
Read Isaiah 11:6-9. What imagery sticks out to you in this passage? What would your neighbourhood, community, or city look like if it were made into the type of place that Isaiah described in these verses?
