God’s grace to cover His people has always come at great cost. After Adam and Eve sought to cover themselves, God provides them covering through sacrifice. Abraham and his son on Mount Moriah were provided a sacrifice that died in place of Isaac. In our text we find the Passover provided God's people important imagery of a helpless victim that served as a life-saving sacrifice. These truths foreshadow what John the Baptist’s words, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
