Greek Word Study Ephesians 6
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
1 Τὰ τέκνα, ὑπακούετε τοῖς γονεῦσιν ὑμῶν ἐν Κυρίῳ· τοῦτο γάρ ἐστι δίκαιον.
Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise:
2 Τίμα τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν μητέρα· (ἥτις ἐστὶν ἐντολὴ πρώτη ἐν ἐπαγγελίᾳ),
that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.
3 ἵνα εὖ σοι γένηται, καὶ ἔσῃ μακροχρόνιος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.
And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training 4 καὶ οἱ πατέρες, μὴ παροργίζετε τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν, ἀλλ̓ ἐκτρέφετε αὐτὰ ἐν παιδείᾳ
and admonition of the Lord.
καὶ νουθεσίᾳ Κυρίου.
Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with
5 Οἱ δοῦλοι, ὑπακούετε τοῖς κυρίοις κατὰ σάρκα, μετὰ φόβου καὶ τρόμου, ἐν
fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;
ἁπλότητι τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν, ὡς τῷ Χριστῷ·
not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ,
6 μὴ κατ ̓ ὀφθαλμοδουλείαν ὡς ἀνθρωπάρεσκοι, ἀλλ ̓ ὡς δοῦλοι τοῦ Χριστοῦ,
doing the will of God from the heart,
ποιοῦντες τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐκ ψυχῆς,
with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,
7 μετ ̓ εὐνοίας δουλεύοντες τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ οὐκ ἀνθρώποις·
knowing that wha``ever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord,
8 εἰδότες ὅτι ὃ ἐάν τι ἕκαστος ποιήσῃ ἀγαθόν, τοῦτο κομιεῖεται παρὰ τοῦ Κυρίου,
whether he is a slave or free.
εἴτε δοῦλος, εἴτε ἐλεύθερος.
And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that
9 καὶ οἱ κύριοι τὰ αὐτὰ ποιεῖτε πρὸς αὐτούς, ἀνιέντες τὴν ἀπειλήν· εἰδότες ὅτι καὶ
your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.
ὑμῶν αὐτῶν ὁ Κύριός ἐστιν ἐν οὐρανοῖς, καὶ προσωποληψία οὐκ ἔστι παρ ̓ αὐτῷ.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His
10 Τὸ λοιπὸν, ἀδελφοί μου, ἐνδυναμοῦσθε ἐν Κυρίῳ, καὶ ἐν τῷ κράτει τῆς ἰσχύος
might.
