Introduction:

Why is the Bible important to us as Christians? Why is the Bible something that we believe in? why do People who do not believe fear the Bible? what makes the Bible the top selling book of the year? What is the Bible personally to you? As Christians, Non-believers, and New Believers we all had question about God, His word know as the Bible, and about Jesus and the Holy spirit. In today’s age many people begin to ask themselves all kinds of questions about how they got here, what is their purpose in life, and should I live for myself and make me happy or should I live a life for God. Just for this morning for class we are going over why the Bible is important to us a Christian’s, for Non-Christian’s and for new-Christians. I just want you all to remember one word this morning from Class that word is Bible.

Authorship and Authority of the Bible:

Many Christians today understand who the Authorship and where the authority of the Bible comes from. It comes from God. he is the author of the Bible, and the being that gave authority to those to write what needs to be in the Bible. 2nd Timothy 3:16-17 quotes this:
2 Timothy 3:16–17 NKJV
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Why is this passage important?
it tells that the Bible was inspiration by God
we need to search what is being taught is correct, and comes from God’s inspired word
The Bible gives instructions on how to live righteous, and holy life for God
The Bible prepares us for a life with God
Let’s take moment think about the history of how we got the Bible. The Bible is a very unique Book? Can anyone tell what makes the Bible very unique? It was written by 40 different men, and that these men live at different point in time during a span of 1600 years. Now think about that just for a moment. there is one more thing that makes the Bible unique and interesting. can anyone tell what that is? The theme, how is that possible? because a book written by 40 different men that could not be possible. which bring us back to who is the true author of the Bible? God. God had a plan for us, we can see that from the beginning, and we allowed sin to separate us from God. The Bible explains how God created Man, The Bible explains to us How Christian’s should live their life for God, and the Bible tells us what our Purpose is in life. as you begin to read and study the Bible. Lets go turn in our Bibles to 2nd Peter 1:20-21.
2 Peter 1:20–21 NKJV
knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
Just from these two verse here What can you tell from what Peter is trying to explain?
in verse 20 you will notice that Peter is explaining that all prophecy from Scripture came from God and not man
the second part is that Peter explains that God uses men to encourage men to follow him and to do his will, men must decide to put aside their own will and do the will of God
one the few questions everyone ask themselves is What is my purpose in this life, many try to find a purpose or a reason to live, others just assume that we happen by chance. As Christians we understand our purpose can be found in the Bible, Let go ahead turn in our Bible to Ecc 12:13-14
Ecclesiastes 12:13–14 NKJV
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.
Just from the book of Ecclesiastes we see Solomon wisdom. Solomon was a son King David, and he was did something no King had done before, He ask God for wisdom instead of power, and God gave those to along with Wisdom. just from these two Verse we see that Men whole purpose in life is to Fear God and keep his Commandments, we see that God will judge everything that was done in the light and everything that was done in secret. Now that we know the purpose of Men, there are something we need to understand when it comes to studying the Bible, and one of those things that when we study God’s word we are learning about God, and about how he wants us to live, and that we should not be trying to change or take something out, or try to Negotiate with God. Lets turn in our Bibles to Deut 4:1-3
Deuteronomy 4:1–3 NKJV
“Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers is giving you. You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. Your eyes have seen what the Lord did at Baal Peor; for the Lord your God has destroyed from among you all the men who followed Baal of Peor.
As we study the Bible we get to read about the history about the Israelite people who followed God, and his prophets. what do you all see that is going on here in Deuteronomy?
The Israelite people had to be somewhere in between Egypt, and land that was promise to them.
Moses was instructed to give them commandments From God.
Do we have commandment that we should be following today?
God tells Moses that we should not be adding too or taking away any of his commandments and from the Bible.
In a Book called Faith Finding, keeping it, the author explains how Commandants, and how Christians should live come from God. With this in mind we come to understand that God has standards for us Christians, because he had standards for the Israelite people too. one easiest thing to understand but also hard at the same time is that realizing that the Bible is the only way to get to know God, and how to get to Heaven. Look at Mat 7:21-23 this one the hardest verse in the Bible because many people today think that by continuing to live in sin they will be okay with God.
Matthew 7:21–23 NKJV
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Just what do you all see for these two verse here in Matthew?
Not everyone will enter the Kingdom of God
many will claim to be for God, but their hearts were not for God, they were wanting to be seen by the people.
now than what would like to heard when you live Earth?
Well done faithful Servant
Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness
As people we all want to go to Heaven, and many will claim that everyone will go to Heaven, but as you see from the passage above that is not true. the only way to get Heaven is to Love God, and to follow his will and not follow our own desires. lets turn in our Bibles to John 14:15
John 14:15 NKJV
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.
John makes it pretty clear that if we truly love God, we will keep his commandants and live a life for God, but there has always been a problem with that, can anyone tell me what kind of problem the early Church after the Apostle had to deal? what is something Non-Christians struggle with when comes to the Bible? Even some Christians walk away because of this? The Problem is language or Translation issues with the Bible.

Translation Issues:

one the hardest thing for Christian is when looking for a Bible for a newer Christian, or for themselves to used for studying. Translation issue comes to play because we have so many translation of the Bible. what Christians should be looking for is not how easy it is to read, but on how close it is to the original Bible written in Greek. because of translation issue this has open the door for men to come and try to change God’s words or to take away things that they believe should not be in the Bible. these kinds of problems rise up, A they will leave out Passages. B: they word a passage in a certain way for the interpreter to decide on what God is thinking. Translation issue has also cause this kind of thinking how many faith are there?
Ephesians 4:5 NKJV
one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
The answer is a very simple answer, that there is one Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. there is no other Faith. the problem with man is, that man tends to think that he can walk on his own, turn in your Bibles to Jer 10:23
Jeremiah 10:23 NKJV
O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.
this is a prayer asking for guidance. The way of man is our desire, and how we live our life direct our steps for the world or for God. many Christians tend to think that they can worship God in anyway or fashion because we try to limit God in our Box. The word will always remain Lets turn in our Bibles to Isa 55:10-11
Isaiah 55:10–11 NKJV
“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
What can we take from this Verse here in Isa?
lets start with Verse 10 we see that Isa is using analogy, For the Rain and snow come down from Heaven and do not return, but yet water earth to bring forth bud.
The words of God are nurturing us Christians, it allows us to grow and to have Faith in God, and to have Faith in his son Jesus.
with out the Bible how are we as Christians to grow in the Faith?
Lets continue with verse 11, So shall my word be that goes from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty but shall accomplish that which i Purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for I send it.
The People of Israel, Had the Prophet's, The New testament Christians had the Apostles, today we have the Bible.

Studying the word is how you get Faith

With all of this in mind we need to understand is that God’s word is not coming back empty handed, but with authority, with meaning and truth behind it all. turn in your Bibles to 1st Peter 1:23
1 Peter 1:23 NKJV
having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
In this verse here 1st Peter, we see that Peter is explaining how as Christian’s when comes to studying the Word of God/ The Bible we are gaining knowledge of God and Jesus and, if we follow it according to what it says we are no longer born of the perishable seed but born of the imperishable seed. Lets go ahead turn to Rom 6:4
Romans 6:4 NKJV
Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
once we become Christians we have to allow are Faith to motivate us to be Baptized, because being baptized not just the washing of the flesh but an commitment towards God, Paul here in Romans makes this statement about how deep baptism is here. because we are dying to our old self, and living for Christ who died for our sins.
How do we as Christians get our Faith in order come to decide on being Baptized?
Let go turn in our Bibles to Rom 10:14-18
Romans 10:14–18 NKJV
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”
Paul tells non Christians on how to become a Christians, the first step is to hear the words of God, To have question, and to seek out God. Today we have all kinds of people who can help others by talking to them about Christ, and what he has done. but at the end of the day it has to be their decision to come to God. to find Faith in God is you have to hear, and believe in him.

Truth

As Christians we have faith the Bible is True. as Christians we can back it up with scripture. turn in your Bibles to John 17:17
John 17:17 NKJV
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
This is pray by Jesus, He was praying for his disciples to be set apart from the world, and how they should open their hearts to God’s word.
One problem about truth is that many people believe there are multiple truths, with this kind of think, it led that are multiple realities which is not true. The Bible is a perfect law of liberty setting man free from the Bondage of Sin and death. Lets go ahead turn in our Bible to James 1:25
James 1:25 NKJV
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
We see that James is reminding us Christian’s that we need to always be in God’s word, always studying his word, where as if we don't study we can fall short, and go back to living a worldly life. Lets go back to Rom 6:18
Romans 6:18 NKJV
And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
at the end of Rom 6 we see that Paul tells us we have a choice to make are we going to follow God, and his Son Jesus and become Slaves of Righteousness, or follow the world, and become slaves of sin, which leads to death. another truth is that God never Changes, he is the same as today, and yesterday. turn in your Bibles to Mal 3:6.
Malachi 3:6 NKJV
“For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
another thing we as Christian’s need to understand is that the Bible is a law for us to guide us, turn in your Bibles to Gal 6:2
Galatians 6:2 NKJV
Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
As Christians of today we understand we are no longer under the old testament law but under a new convent after the death of Christ on the Cross. turn in your Bibles to Col 2:14
Colossians 2:14 NKJV
having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
we can also look at Eph 2:15
Ephesians 2:15 NKJV
having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,
We as Christians come to understand that God makes these promises or agreements which is also known as a covenant. with man, and also understand its not God who breaks them. it is us Christians who break these terms we have with God. Turn in your Bibles to 1st John 2: 25
1 John 2:25 NKJV
And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.
The Bible is a covenant from God to Man. the Choice is ours to make, what is the most important question a person can ask themselves?
are we going to follow God, or are we going to live how I want to live and chase after my own Desires?
The Bible is our History as Christians. The Bible tells us how man came to be and How God attempted a relationship with us , and How we broke that Relationship, and how we came back to God. Turn in your Bible to Jer 24:7
Jeremiah 24:7 NKJV
Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.
The Bible tells us that God still wants a relationship with us even today, let go ahead turn in our Bible to 2nd Cor 6:16
2 Corinthians 6:16 NKJV
And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.”
sdxdwe also look at Gen 1:26
Genesis 1:26 NKJV
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
and look at 1st Thess 4:17
1 Thessalonians 4:17 NKJV
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
