Greet your neighbor and say welcome to church.
Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
I think its beyond human comprehension how every person would be able to see Christ at once.
We can’t even ponder the radiance and light that those will be expose to when He comes back.
Even those have died. Will see Him when He comes back. “even they who pierced Him”.
The majority of people won’t be excited about His coming. They will more so be terrified.
There will be a universal mourning for those who reject the crucifixion.
Every tribe of the earth will mourn because of Him.
This word mourn actually means “to beat ones chest as a sign of mourning” Its a very dramatic picture.
The mind set of this generation was similar of the mindset in Jesus day.
“But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions,
MSG. “How can I account for this generation? The people have been like spoiled children whining to their parents.”
- Jesus is comparing this generation to children who are sitting in the market place that can’t be please by anything.
and saying: ‘We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not lament.’
“We played the flute”, flutes where used for wedding dancing and joy, but you did not dance.
Christ life bringing the ultimate joy and fulfillment but yet you rejected him
We play mournful music, but you did not lament.
Christ is willing to mourn with you through difficulties and tuff situations. He understand the difficulty that this life brings and wrestling with sin. He knows your insecurities. But yet you didn’t trust Him, you rejected his comfort.
MSG ’We wanted to skip rope, and you were always too tired; we wanted to talk, but you were always too busy.’
Everything Christ could do for you was rejected. So its no longer a problem with Christ its a problem with you.
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.”
So they rejected the John and Jesus , The Prophet and the Messiah.
Though this generation isn’t happy with anything, God will reveal there hearts and what God says in the end will come true.
In the last days lives will be this way!
The situation is tantamount to an apartment owner returning unexpectedly as the tenants are trashing the premises.
Not only has the humanity failed in its stewardship of Gods creation. But overwhelmingly rejected the grace and forgiveness of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lets go back to vs 7 in revelation 1
Revelation 1:7 “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.”
John says at the end of his statement. Amen !
He’s saying so shall it be!
Finally justices is being served.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Christ speaks here, with the self identifying as Alpha and Omega.
Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters in the greek Alphabet.
Thats the equivalate way of saying I am A and Z.
He is saying I am the sovereign Lord through all the ages.
He is saying I am the origin and the consummation. I am the completion.
He is The beginning of history and the end of history and all that lies in between.
Ancient Rabbis use this term in reference that Adam transgressed the law A to Z. He was the origin of sin and the completion of it
Essentially what He is saying is that I’m above creation. I am not a created being.
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
We also find this is Rev. 21:6
And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Just imagine God has heard every complaint. Experienced every rejection, bore every sin.
Witnessed every national disaster, heard every argument against and for Him.
He knows every tear.
You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?
Every step you take in this life God thought it worthy to count and record.
But yet He is still Alpha and Omega.
