Introduction: Have you ever been hit by a huge wave that completely took you underneath the waters and took you breath away? Story of the beach.
Point- I was distracted and not vigilant, I was not prepared for the wave. Therefore, it took me under.
Likewise, in Ephesians 6:10-20 there is an enemy that wants not just to take our breath way and drag us away, but destroy us. He wants to swift us like wheat. Therefore, we must Armor up!
So we will be looking at the following in our passage
Breakdown:
Our Adversaries (Eph 6:10-13, 16)
Our Armor (Eph 6:14-17)
Our Advocate (Eph 6:18-20)

Putting on the new self is in essence the same as putting on the armor of God. The “armor of God” can be understood as the armor that God provides, the armor that God himself wears, or even the armor that is God himself.

Isaiah 59:16–19 ESV
He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him. He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak. According to their deeds, so will he repay, wrath to his adversaries, repayment to his enemies; to the coastlands he will render repayment. So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing stream, which the wind of the Lord drives.
We must not confide in the armor of God, but in the God of this armor, because all our weapons are only “mighty through God”.
William Gurnall
Our Advocate (Eph 6:18-20)
a) Pray at all times in the Spirit
b) Keep Alert and Intercede
-What should you pray? For the same thing Paul asked for!
You have now, Christian, the armor of God; but take heed thou forgettest not to engage the God of this armor by humble prayer for your assistance, lest for all this you be worsted in the fight.
William Gurnall
Jude 20–25 ESV
But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh. Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
