Isaiah 40:28–31 KJV 1900

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, That the everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; And to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; And they shall walk, and not faint.

I. Remember What God Has Done

3 The Lord hath done great things for us; Whereof we are glad.

A. God gave His Son to die for our sins. Jesus gave Himself that we might be cleansed from all unrighteousness.

Some folks spend their entire lives being driven by guilt from failures in their past. Their lives are haunted by regrets and shame that they are trying to hide. They are manipulated by the memories of the past which end up controlling their future. Yes, we are products of our past, but we don’t have to be prisoners of it. The Lord is in the business of rebuilding people’s lives and giving them a new start in life by the cleansing power of Jesus Christ.

B. The skeptic declares that God has done nothing for him, that he has gotten everything through his own power.

II. Recognize What God Is Doing

42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

A. God is alive today. He is working in the lives of those who let Him.

If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

Colossians 3:16 KJV 1900

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

We should be aware of His power and presence.

B. Christians should be excited about what God is doing. They should not become complacent and unconcerned about God’s work.

13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

C. We can keep from discouragement by thinking about what God is doing presently.

A Christ-like attitude will help us to see the good and expect the best (Phil. 4:4

III. Rejoice About What God Will Do

21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: For the Lord will do great things.

A. We must face the future with an attitude of faith. God has promised to help us in time of need, and to give strength and courage for all our tomorrows.

B. We are promised eternity with the Lord. He has prepared wonderful things for those who trust Him
