INTRODUCTION:

The Power of the Word of God is the topic for today.
A. This is such a deep topic which needs to be understood in today’s world.
1.
Because of the depths of this topic, it will be impossible to completely explore it today in only one lesson.
2. This is why each individual Christian should study for themselves to truly understand the power of the Word of God.
B. Sermons as Seeds?
1.
Every sermon we hear from the Word of God is a seed which needs to be watered and taken care of in order to grow.
Mark 4.13-
2. The beauty of the Word of God is that no matter how much you study it, there is always more to learn.
A. The Word of God is so powerful that we can study it our entire lives and still have more to study.
B. If we want God’s Word to grow in our lives to show forth its power, we must take the seed that is planted by the preacher, Sunday school teacher, friend or family member and water and nurture it.

If we want the power of God’s Word in our lives, we must tap into it by faith.
2. Faith comes from hearing God’s Word, which is the power of God.
C. Why is God’s Word so powerful?

Because He spoke and it was so!
2. Because in His words is the power of life and death.
BODY:
1. BECAUSE HE SPOKE AND IT WAS SO!
A. When God spoke, it was so.
1.
When God said, “Let there be light,” there was light.
Gen 1.
2. God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters...” and it was so.
3. God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered to gether into one place, and let the dry land appear,” and it was so.
4. God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree...” and it was so.
5. God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night...” and it was so.
6. God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures and let birds fly above the earth....” So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves.

1. God claimed by the statement that His Word had the power to create light; if it would not have happened, it would have been a lie.
2. But it did happen—light was created by the power of His Word, because His Word is truth and He cannot lie.
C. The power of the Word of God is—it always comes to pass.
1 Kings
1. God told Adam and Eve that if they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would die.
Gen 3.
A. They both partook of the tree.
B. By eating of the tree, they broke God’s law and sinned.
C. Thus, they died, being separated from God.

Thus, God spoke and His Word was so!
2. God prophesied through Isaiah that King Cyrus would facilitate the return to Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the wall many years before Cyrus would become king.
Isa 44
A. In this becomes a reality many years after it was prophesied.

3. God told Abraham that he would be the father of many nations…and kings shall come from him.
A. Abraham’s grandchild, Jacob, and great-grandchildren (Jacob’s children) and their families equalled 70 people when they entered Egypt.

B. While they were in Egypt, they grew and increased in number abundantly.

C. When the seventy left Egypt, that seventy had turned into six hundred thousand men, besides children.

1. Life is in Jesus, and it is so, if for no other reason than God has spoken.
2. Death is being apart from Jesus, and it is so, if for no other reason than God has spoken.
A. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.
CONCLUSION:
1.
The power of the Word of God is...
A. He Has spoken and it is so.
2. If you are not listening to God’s Word, then the power of salvation is lost to you.
A. If you have not obeyed the gospel, then you do not believe that God has spoken and it is so.
