Hold On To Your Faith

Pastor E. Keith Hassell

Foundation Scripture:  Hebrews 10:19-25

Background: The writer of Hebrews addressed believers of all backgrounds but especially Jewish believers who were beginning to reconsider their faith in Christ as a result of persecution and hardship that it brought in order to return to Judaism and the Old Testament. People today in times of hardship may wonder if it is really worth the trouble to follow Jesus and if the promises of God will ever come to pass.

I.                   Consider what God has given you in Christ (v. 19-22)

A.               Boldness (confidence) to enter the Holy of Holies

B.                The Blood of Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice for our sin

C.               A new and living way to the Father

D.               Jesus our High Priest who pleads our case

II.                Draw near to God (v. 22)

A.               With a true heart

B.                In full assurance of faith

C.               Our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience

D.               Our bodies washed with pure water

III.             Hold fast the confession of your hope (v. 23)

A.               Without wavering at God’s promises

B.                God who promised is faithful

IV.            Let us consider one another (v. 24-25)

A.               To stir up love

B.                To stir up good works

C.               Not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together

D.               Exhorting one another

E.                Watching for the Day of the Lord to come

V.               Call To Action

A.               Have you considered Christ and Christianity but never made a personal commitment to Him?

B.                Have you wavered in your faith and been tempted to leave it all behind?

C.               Has your grip on your faith been weak?

D.               Don’t give up. Take a new hold on your faith.
