Lineage of Jesus

Honor

I will be reading a few scriptures tonight, but my focus verse is , say Amen when you have it. Please remain standing for the reading of the word, and then you may be seated.
I honor my Pastor who is unable to be with us this evening, giving me the opportunity to stand behind this pulpit; Pastor, I thank you.

Opening Prayer

Let us pray, prayer over the lesson and that we may gain something this evening.

Colossians 2:6–7 KJV 1900
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
KJV 190011 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Hook - Ancestry
I am here because my father and my mother met at a gas station, fell in love, and brought me into this world. I can go to the Ancestry website, and trickle my family line throughout history. So far, I not discovered any famous or historical figures in my family. Probably the closest is a distant relative that aided Pancho Villa during the revolution.

But why Noah?

Faith
I think its a fair assessment that most, if not all Christians, find faith to be one of the most challenging aspect of their Christian walk and relationship with God. It’s easy to accept and believe all accounts of faith exercised in the Bible, but when we’re faced with adversity or find ourselves traveling through a desert instead of on the mountain top, it’s not as easy to put our trust in God. We’re often drawn to scriptures about having faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed, or when the father of the demon possessed child asked Jesus to help his unbelief in search of a miracle. One reason we find our faith so challenging at times, is because of how deeply we are rooted in Christ.
is known as the faith chapter and 11:1 states “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith is a “Strong confidence in, and reliance upon, someone or something; often with the object of trust understood.” I want to talk about two specific ways faith was exercised differently throughout the bible; this is not all encompassing of all faith exercises, but I only want to discuss two for tonights lesson.
Verse 2, Strive means to “make great efforts”; it’s almost as if the Lord has lost his patience. Parents, I’m sure, can relate to the limits of their patience with their children. Verse 5, “every imagination” Or, the whole imagination: The Hebrew word signifieth not only the imagination, but also the purposes and desires. If we continue to read through verse 9, we learn that God chooses Noah because of his righteousness. Noah gets an insider tip about the impending damnation of all of humanity and is instructed to build his boat, specific to God’s design. Let me stop here - God’s calling is followed by instruction and confirmation; the confirmation in Noah’s case - the flood! Moving on, Noah is faithful and obedient, but his service to God did not stop at the completion of the ark and it didn’t stop when God closed the door. Noah had to follow through with his charge over all of the animals on the ark.

Faith

KJV 190019 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. 20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. 21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. 22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
First being based on desperate circumstances on three separate occasions.
Hebrews 11:1 KJV 1900
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Roman Officer: And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

We’re left
Woman with the issue of blood
Woman with the issue of blood: And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Gentile woman: Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Faith = Strong confidence in, and reliance upon, someone or something; often with the object of trust understood. I want to talk about two specific ways faith was exercised differently throughout the bible; this is not all encompassing, but I only want to discuss two for tonights lesson.
All three of these people had a horizontal faith-based relationship with Jesus. Horizontal faith-based relationships with Jesus lacks the ability to fathom anything past the immediate, or near influential, lacks depth, and cannot go beyond the surface. The Roman Officer, woman with the issue of blood, and the gentile woman simply had an encounter with the Master. There was no intimate relationship with Jesus, rather their experience was superficial at best. Simply put, their need was met because Jesus was unable to compare their faith to that of any other. For the Roman Officer, his servant was healed; the woman with the issue of blood was made whole; and as for the gentile woman, her daughter too was made whole. For these three, their relationship with Jesus ends here. I would like to think that each of them continued living out the rest of their days serving Jesus, but the Bible doesn’t say.
The second exercise of faith is based on a relationship with God - not just an encounter.
Faith based on a relationship with God
The three Hebrew boys. tells of how King Nebuchadnezzer builds up a image of gold to be worshipped on command of a musical symphony. When the band begins to play, everyone is expected to bow dow before this golden image, and worship. Anyone caught in disobedience and refusing to bow down in worship will be charged with death and forced in a fiery furnace. We know the story continues to account for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego going against the grain and refusing to kneel down. They’re brought before King Nebuchadnezzer and are again reminded that disobedience will result in an their immediate casting into the fire; King Nebuchadnezzer even asks them “Who is the god that will deliver you from my hands?”. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego were not the least bit cautious in their answer, nor did they bite their tongue, rather they answered the king with boldness, proclaiming their faith in God, accepting that even if God did not deliver them from the fiery furnace, it would be known they did not serve the Babylonian gods. This story does not begin on faith based works, but rather obedience to God, however it is their faith in God that brings about their salvation and deliverance from the fiery furnace.

The three Hebrew boys had a vertical faith-based relationship with God. Vertical faith allows people to see beyond the limited capabilities of humanity, and does not emphasize change on the present circumstances but rather shapes how we address what is, and is deep beneath the surface, because their faith has been rooted. The difference between the three Hebrew boys vertical faith is their establishment. By tracing their roots, we read in , that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego were the children of Judah; there is some lineage there. Judah means praise; they were rooted in praise.
How are we linked to Jesus?
This story does not begin on faith based works, but rather obedience to God, however it is their faith in God that brings about salvation and delivers them from the fiery furnace.
We were created in the image of God.
Mans disobedience allows for sin to rein in our lives.
Salvation is needed, repentance, baptism in Jesus name, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
Children of God.
Unified through marriage (Bride of Christ - the church).
Patter of the death, burrial, and resurection through Jesus (now the new testament salvation = new creation). By being baptized in Jesus name, we then take that name as our own. This is our lineage to Jesus. Put on the new self.
Roots. Before we go any further, lets briefly discuss the importance of being rooted. I’m going to liken our faith to that of a plant because the Greek word for “rooted” in (rhizoo): means to “be firmly rooted; meaning to be established, conceived of as if a plant being or becoming fixed in the ground” and if you gain nothing from tonights lesson, you’ll at least learn how to care for a potted plant. We’ve all seen plants, but we can only see what grows above the surface; the underpart of the plant is called the root system. It does not produce leaves, buds, flowers, or fruits. Roots provide anchorage to the plant by fixing it to the soil, and absorbs water and minerals from the soil, and then conducts the absorbed water and minerals to the shoot system (plant). Why is this important? It is important because it requires a great deal of care to nurture a plant.
The first step in caring for potted plants is to choose the pot/vessel. The pot must have holes in the bottom to allow for proper drainage, or the roots can drown. Choosing resin, fiberglass, and plastic as opposed to clay or wood which is not as porous, meaning they absorb less moisture, leaves more for the plant. Not choosing the right pot can do more damage than good and impedes the growth of the plant.
Likewise, as Christians, where we choose to plant ourselves is equally important. When we make the decision to serve God, its imperative that we plant ourselves in an environment that will nurture our spiritual growth and development. Going to church on Sunday and mid-week services but night and dance clubs, bars, or casinos the other nights of the week will yield nothing.
Next, you must choose your potting mix. Using soil from the yard or ground can be filled with weed seeds, insects, and fungal diseases. By using potting soil at your local garden center, you get soil where contaminants and harmful materials have been filtered out. By using filtered soil, you will keep your plant clean and protected.
Once you’ve made a decision to be planted in Christ, you must remain separated from those who will infect you, leading to unnecessary damage and maintenance or repairs. When we choose to serve God, instructs us to “be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” and says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
#Separation
Choose the plants. #thriving. A rose requires approximately six hours of sunlights each day, but only offering it an hour does not provide the right conditions for growth. If you choose multiple types of plants to combine, they must like the same amount of light and moisture conditions, for only one will survive if nurtured. #The conditions must be set right to allow for adequate growth, such as spending enough time in prayer and who we plant ourselves with.
The next step is to choose the plants. A rose requires approximately six hours of sunlight each day, but only offering it an hour does not provide the right conditions for growth. And if you choose multiple types of plants to combine (to put into the same pot), they must like the same amount of light and moisture conditions, for only one will survive.

For Christians, the conditions must be set right to allow for adequate growth, such as spending enough time in prayer and who we plant ourselves with. reinforces the idea of separation by saying “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” If you want to thrive, then time needs to be spent in prayer, and among Godly people, setting the right conditions for growth.
Prepare the pots/vessel. #preparation and moderation. If the containers are large, place them where they’ll ultimately go, because once they are full and watered, they may be too heavy to move. Before the soil is placed, the holes in the bottom of the pot must be filled with broken shards of pots or a coffee filter to prevent soil from washing out, but to still allow water to escape. When adding water, add a little at a time and kneed the mixture with your hands. #The preparation place just before planting is important. Adding too much water or packing the soil too hard can kill the plant before it even has a chance to grow. When new converts or babes in Christ are planted into the church, they must be allowed to grow, which takes time, it takes a season. Someone new cannot be forced to grow and must be allowed to grow in due time. God can make a world of difference with one prayer at the alter, but they must be allowed to heal.

When people walk into the church, they must be allowed to grow (which takes time, it takes a season). Too often, people walk into a church and are rushed into being a Christian, where there is no sincere or genuine change. Someone new cannot be forced to grow; they must be allowed to grow in due time. God can make a world of difference with one prayer at the alter, but they must be allowed to heal from their brokenness. If we want this church to be where they ultimately go, then preparation must be taken into consideration.

Finally, we must pot the plant, by transplanting it with care. When the time is right, remove the plant from it’s nursery, remembering to support the “root ball” - the semi-solid mass of soil and roots, placing a finger on each side of the stem; then tipping the pot back and letting the plant fall gently into your hand. Never pull a plant out by it stem, or it might get pulled right off the root. Set the plant on top of the mix, and carefully fill in with small handfuls of soil, patting gently to eliminate air pockets. Do not pile soil on top of the plant - make sure the stem is completely above the surface; you’re not trying to bury the plant. Once this is complete, you will want to water the vessel, which will help settle the roots into their new home.
Once you’ve been planted, you need to settle your roots by watering them. In the Old Testament, says “Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” and “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Our spiritual root system is essential to establishment of our faith, because it is what anchors us to Christ and it’s how we absorb that water that yields fruit. All of this, the roots, our anchor, are all below the surface - meaning you cannot see it. Sure, we might be able to see an outward appearance or whats above the surface as people walk into this church, but what we don’t see is how well they take care of their root system, be it time in prayer, dedication and commitment to the ministry, giving bible studies, etc., all those things that strengthen our root system by conducting spiritual nutrients to that individual. Healthy plants, have healthy roots; just look at all the vegetation in the desert.
Our lineage. We’ve discussed the importance of a “root” through the analogy of plants, but lets take it back to the three Hebrew boys. They were born into Judah and had a direct link to praise because of their roots (lineage). But what about us gentiles, and our lineage?
We’ve discussed the importance of a root through the analogy of plants, but lets take it back to the three Hebrew boys.
Going back to How are we linked to Jesus?
First and foremost, we were created in the image of God (). Most of us who have children, can recognize some parental features in our children; this is a visual reflection of our heritage passed on from generation to generation. Back to the creation of humanity, we’ve got some bad history because mans disobedience allowed for sin to reign in our lives. Sin and death was conquered when Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the grave three days later. Although Jesus was and is perfect, we are not and our only escape from the sting of death, is salvation. outlines exactly what that plan of salvation is; which is repentance, baptism in Jesus name, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
We were created in the image of God.
Mans disobedience allows for sin to rein in our lives.
Fulfilling is significant in two ways, one being salvation, but the other being we are unified through marriage as the Bride of Christ. On that day of pentecost, three thousand souls were added to the church (). Baptism doesn’t just wash away our sins to be forever buried under the watery grave, but we’re taking on that name of Jesus as our own. says “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name (the name of Jesus) under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Thats why the name of Jesus is so important and so powerful! I didn’t die for you, the virgin Mary didn’t die for your sins, and no priest died for your sins, our names mean nothing.
Children of God.
Salvation is needed, repentance, baptism in Jesus name, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

When that transformation I spoke of earlier () about being a new creation, happens and you have now taken the name of Jesus, you are literally putting on a new man/woman. Listen to “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:” You’re putting on a new self, you’re putting on Christ!

Put on the new self.
Closing. You don’t have to be born into this to have a vertical faith-based relationship that goes deep beyond the surface. But this is done by building precept upon precept, and line upon line; not wavering from truth and Apostolic doctrine. When there is stammering lips and another tongue, and you receive the Holy Ghost, then you’ve been established and rooted. You’ve transitioned from the horizontal to the vertical.

Closing. Understand that Jesus was linked to humanity. He was referred to the seed of Woman, the seed of Abraham, and the son of David. Jesus was born a natural infant in Bethlehem’s manger, and wrapped in swaddling clothes (), and the Bible even says that Jesus grew up in the normal manner of a child, and was in subjection to his parents (). You can trace his roots or genealogy in Matthew and in Luke. And although Jesus was all God, he still faced temptation because he was also all man. Jesus ultimately overcame temptation by resisting, and by being rooted in Christ, establishing our faith, we to can develop the resistance needed when faced with temptation.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Noah and his family remained in the ark for a total of 371 days. See, we don’t always know what’s coming, but when God calls us, we must be prepared to endure whatever lies ahead. I don’t think Noah expected to be stuck inside of a boat for over a year. So your rainfall that’s just ahead, might only last you a season and no matter how rough those waves get just know that when you follow Gods plan according to His design, your obedience and faithfulness to Him will see you through, regardless of your ministry or purpose in His kingdom. We can’t allow our own ambitions to get in the way of our purpose that has been set before us. Eventually those flood waters will subside and once you make it through,
2 Corinthians 2:14 KJV 1900
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

Hebrews 11:1 KJV 1900
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Strong confidence in, and reliance upon, someone or something; often with the object of trust understood.
Jeremiah 17:5–8 KJV 1900
Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
John 4:14 KJV 1900
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
jeremiah 17
John 7:38 KJV 1900
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
How do we get rooted in Christ? Being rooted helps us endure the temptations and trouble that comes.
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
How to care for potted plans
Watering the plants
Choose the plants. #thriving. A rose requires approximately six hours of sunlights each day, but only offering it an hour does not provide the right conditions for growth. If you choose multiple types of plants to combine, they must like the same amount of light and moisture conditions, for only one will survive if nurtured. #The conditions must be set right to allow for adequate growth, such as spending enough time in prayer and who we plant ourselves with.
Pot the plant. #transplant with care. When the time is right, remove the plant from it’s nursery, remembering to support the “root ball” - the semi-solid mass of soil and roots, placing a finger on each side of the stem; then tipping the pot back and letting the plant fall gently into your hand. never pull a plant out by it stem, it might get pulled right off the root. Set the plant on top of the mix, and carefully fill in with small handfuls of soil, patting gently to eliminate air pockets. Do not pile soil on top of the plant - make sure the stem is completely above the surface; you’re not trying to bury the plant. #Once this is complete, you will want to water the vessel, which will help settle the roots into their new home.
Watering the plants
Depending on the season, you can get away with watering about once a week, like in the spring; but in the summer months, your plants will need more water. For obvious reasons, the hotter it is, the more thirsty living organisms need water, because the rate of evaporation reduces the amount of moisture that gets to the plant. #the larger the plant, the more water that is required to help it grow. It’s like that old adage, “The longer I serve God, the more I need Him”. #Water your plants until the water comes out of the drainage holes. #Not sure how much is enough? How about you pray until ti’s coming out of everywhere, it’s like says, thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. When was the last time you spent time in prayer, long enough that the blessings of God filled your cup and it began to overflow?
When the water comes out of the drainage holes, that’s how you know the roots in eh soil is getting enough moisture.
Don’t let vessels sit in water, because this can cause “root rot” and even death; and if you’re using saucers, they need to be empited. But how can too much be a bad thing? Listen, you cannot live on past victories to get you through every battle because it doesn’t promote healthy growth. Look, we’re talking about being spiritually rooted. Every year leaves fall and each spring season brings new life, but what remains is the root system. To put it into perspective, how many would eat an apple off a tree that managed to hang on to the ranches for a season when new apples grow, you’d go for that.
Not allowing for new growth suggest a state of complacency! in , we are charged with being fruitful in the knowledge of the Lord jesus Christ, and those lacking in these things have forgotten he was purged from his old sins. These seasons allow us to be more humble and force us to rely on God. says “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing”.
Romans 12:2 KJV 1900
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV 1900
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Lineage of Jesus (Ancestry)
Who was Jesus (as a man)?
What happens when you’re not rooted in Christ? Your trial brings you to a wilderness, a desert place. There is not any vegetation in the desert, no sustainable life sources for plans, because a root system cannot survive = no fruit bearing plants.
How do we get rooted in Christ? Being rooted helps us endure the temptations and trouble that comes.

Putting on Christ
Colossians 3:1–10 KJV 1900
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Mans disobedience allows for sin to rein in our lives.
Salvation is needed, repentance, baptism in Jesus name, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
Children of God.

Patter of the death, burrial, and resurection through Jesus (now the new testament salvation = new creation). By being baptized in Jesus name, we then take that name as our own. This is our lineage to Jesus. Put on the new self.

Matthew 8:5–13 KJV 1900
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
2. The woman with the issue of the blood
Mark 5:25–34 KJV 1900
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
Mark 5:24-
3. The gentile woman
Matthew 15:21–28 KJV 1900
Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

relationship-based faith
The three Hebrew boys
tells of how King Nebuchadnezzer builds up a image of gold to be worshipped on command of a musical symphony. They’re brought before King Nebuchadnezzer and are again reminded that disobedience will result in an immediately casting into the fire; King Nebuchadnezzer even asks them “Who is the god that will deliver you from my hands?”.
This story does not begin on faith based works, but rather obedience to God, however it is their faith in God that brings about salvation and delivers them from the fiery furnace.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
4. The three Hebrew boys had a vertical faith-based relationship with Jesus. Vertical faith allows people to see beyond the limited capabilities of humanity, and does not emphasize change on the present circumstances but rather shapes how we address what is, and is deep beneath the surface, because their faith has been rooted.

Isaiah 28:9–12 KJV 1900
Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, And drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; Line upon line, line upon line; Here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue Will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; And this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
