KJV 190011 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Hook - Ancestry
I am here because my father and my mother met at a gas station, fell in love, and brought me into this world.
I can go to the Ancestry website, and trickle my family line throughout history.
So far, I not discovered any famous or historical figures in my family.
Probably the closest is a distant relative that aided Pancho Villa during the revolution.

Faith
I think its a fair assessment that most, if not all Christians, find faith to be one of the most challenging aspect of their Christian walk and relationship with God.
It’s easy to accept and believe all accounts of faith exercised in the Bible, but when we’re faced with adversity or find ourselves traveling through a desert instead of on the mountain top, it’s not as easy to put our trust in God.
We’re often drawn to scriptures about having faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed, or when the father of the demon possessed child asked Jesus to help his unbelief in search of a miracle.
One reason we find our faith so challenging at times, is because of how deeply we are rooted in Christ.
is known as the faith chapter and 11:1 states “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Faith is a “Strong confidence in, and reliance upon, someone or something; often with the object of trust understood.”
I want to talk about two specific ways faith was exercised differently throughout the bible; this is not all encompassing of all faith exercises, but I only want to discuss two for tonights lesson.
Verse 2, Strive means to “make great efforts”; it’s almost as if the Lord has lost his patience.
Parents, I’m sure, can relate to the limits of their patience with their children.
Verse 5, “every imagination” Or, the whole imagination: The Hebrew word signifieth not only the imagination, but also the purposes and desires.
If we continue to read through verse 9, we learn that God chooses Noah because of his righteousness.
Noah gets an insider tip about the impending damnation of all of humanity and is instructed to build his boat, specific to God’s design.
Let me stop here - God’s calling is followed by instruction and confirmation; the confirmation in Noah’s case - the flood!
Moving on, Noah is faithful and obedient, but his service to God did not stop at the completion of the ark and it didn’t stop when God closed the door.
Noah had to follow through with his charge over all of the animals on the ark.
Faith
KJV 190019 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Roman Officer: And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee.
And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

We’re left
Woman with the issue of blood
Woman with the issue of blood: And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Gentile woman: Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
But he answered her not a word.
And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.
And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

I want to talk about two specific ways faith was exercised differently throughout the bible; this is not all encompassing, but I only want to discuss two for tonights lesson.
All three of these people had a horizontal faith-based relationship with Jesus.
Horizontal faith-based relationships with Jesus lacks the ability to fathom anything past the immediate, or near influential, lacks depth, and cannot go beyond the surface.
The Roman Officer, woman with the issue of blood, and the gentile woman simply had an encounter with the Master.
There was no intimate relationship with Jesus, rather their experience was superficial at best.
