Introduction:
Let’s be honest about what the Christmas season has become.
Money driven consumerism.
It is a time for the world flaunt their wealth.
And it is killing our nations as Christmas drive people more and more into debt.
The average american spends over $900 on Christmas presents.
In homes, mom’s and dad’s spend upwards of $200 per kid.
This doesn’t even account for what we spend on ourselves.
I just want to go on record as saying, we are living in the greatest period of human history.
And I long for the future.
If I had a time machine, I’m going forward.
Some of you wish you’d have been born in a different era.
Not me.
technology is awesome.
But technology is expensive.
We are incredibly blessed.
Even the poorest among us are blessed.
All the promises of God find their yes in Jesus Christ.
The Christmas Thread connects the promises of God for a savior.
We started 2 weeks ago with the very first promise for a savior.
A lot has happened since then.
There was great evil followed by a great flood.
Noah got drunk and the people’s of the earth tried to build a tower to heaven.
God said nope.
He jumbled languages and scattered people to the nations.
Then God chose to work through the family of one man: Abraham and the seed of one woman: Sarah.
Gen 12:
Big Idea: Christmas is about being a blessing to others.
Being a blessing to others requires at lot of trust in God.
Being a blessing requires obedience.
Being a blessing requires humility.
