Gen 22:7-8
Genesis 22:7–8 AMP
7 And Isaac said to Abraham, My father! And he said, Here I am, my son. [Isaac] said, See, here are the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt sacrifice? 8 Abraham said, My son, God Himself will provide a lamb for the burnt offering. So the two went on together.
Isaiah sees in 53:7 he sees This pailful vision
Isaiah doesn’t know what a crucifixion is the mode of exactions did not even exist at the time of Isaiah he doesn’t know what he is seeing he is horrified
Isaiah 53:7 AMP
7 He was oppressed, [yet when] He was afflicted, He was submissive and opened not His mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.
1. John the Baptist recognized Jesus as the spotless Lamb!
John 1:29 AMP
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said, Look! There is the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world!
Paul wrought in
1 Corinthians 5:7 even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us
Paul was like all though Passover’s we celebrated for thousands of years they were just pointing ahead as a picture to Jesus He’s the real Passover He’s the real lamb
in Acts Chapter 8 there’s a there was a Eunuch that was hungry for God
He was Religious and Sincere
They slammed the door of the temple in his face and said you can’t come worship, he was so hungry for God that on his way back to Ethiopia the Bible tells us in acts chapter 8 he was still reading the Jewish scriptures
God sends Philip out in the wilderness here in Acts 8:32
Acts 8:32 AMP
32 Now this was the passage of Scripture which he was reading: Like a sheep He was led to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is dumb, so He opens not His mouth.
In vs 35 Philip opened his mouth and he began at that same scripture in the Old Testament in Isaiah and he preached unto him Jesus.
Jesus how could he even do that when Jesus when Jesus isn’t mentioned in Isaiah chapter 53 his name not there, but He is there because he was the lamb that went to Calvary he was the sacrifice brutally beaten and put on a cross and his blood was shed it was innocent blood although you don’t see Jesus Christ
in Isaiah 53 He’s there He’s in every verse behind every image He’s the lamb that’s coming.
Philip preaches to him Jesus and explaining Jesus being the lamb. John the Baptist and Paul and Philip on that day they would refer back for ground zero for the Jews
Exodus 12:1–13 AMP
1 THE LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2 This month shall be to you the beginning of months, the first month of the year to you. 3 Tell all the congregation of Israel, On the tenth day of this month they shall take every man a lamb or kid, according to [the size of] the family of which he is the father, a lamb or kid for each house. 4 And if the household is too small to consume the lamb, let him and his next door neighbor take it according to the number of persons, every man according to what each can eat shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb or kid shall be without blemish, a male of the first year; you shall take it from the sheep or the goats. 6 And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall [each] kill [his] lamb in the evening. 7 They shall take of the blood and put it on the two side posts and on the lintel [above the door space] of the houses in which they shall eat [the Passover lamb]. 8 They shall eat the flesh that night roasted; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Eat not of it raw nor boiled at all with water, but roasted—its head, its legs, and its inner parts. 10 You shall let nothing of the meat remain until the morning; and the bones and unedible bits which remain of it until morning you shall burn with fire. 11 And you shall eat it thus: [as fully prepared for a journey] your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment [proving their helplessness]. I am the Lord. 13 The blood shall be for a token or sign to you upon [the doorposts of] the houses where you are, [that] when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt.
2 Corinthians 5:21 AMP
21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].
He made Christ to be who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf
II. The Lamb had to be Spotless
In this
God was very specific about the lamb that was to be chosen for the Passover. There were three conditions:
A. It had to be male
B. It had to be in it’s first year-both of these things speak of the great value of the lamb.
C. It had to be without blemish
2. The thief recognized Jesus as the spotless Lamb!
In John chapter 18 pilot said I find no fault in him
In Matthew 27:4 Judas said
I have sinned and betrayed the innocent blood
The centurion who stood on duty at the cross
Matthew 27:54 AMP
54 When the centurion and those who were with him keeping watch over Jesus observed the earthquake and all that was happening, they were terribly frightened and filled with awe, and said, Truly this was God’s Son!
This is why peter weighs in
1 Peter 1:18 AMP
18 You must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from [your] forefathers, not with corruptible things [such as] silver and gold,
Luke 23:39–43 AMP
39 One of the criminals who was suspended kept up a railing at Him, saying, Are You not the Christ (the Messiah)? Rescue Yourself and us [from death]! 40 But the other one reproved him, saying, Do you not even fear God, seeing you yourself are under the same sentence of condemnation and suffering the same penalty? 41 And we indeed suffer it justly, receiving the due reward of our actions; but this Man has done nothing out of the way [nothing strange or eccentric or perverse or unreasonable]. 42 Then he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when You come in Your kingly glory! 43 And He answered him, Truly I tell you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.
Why was death necessary?
Why did Jesus have to die such a cruel death? Because God always judges sin!
If God is a God of love, why can’t he just overlook it?
He cannot overlook sin because he is a righteous judge!
In Christ, God carried out sentence against his own rather than strike us! He made a way for us to enter into His great love!
God said that when He saw the blood, He would pass over them. Not one home with the blood applied was touched by the plague. Every home in Egypt without the blood lost their firstborn!
The blood of Christ is my shelter today. It’s my shelter from the judgment of God!
in Conclusion:
Ephesians 1:7 AMP
7 In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor,
Are you under that blood that was shed on that cross?
The Lords Supper.
1 Corinthians 11:17–31 NLT
17 But in the following instructions, I cannot praise you. For it sounds as if more harm than good is done when you meet together. 18 First, I hear that there are divisions among you when you meet as a church, and to some extent I believe it. 19 But, of course, there must be divisions among you so that you who have God’s approval will be recognized! 20 When you meet together, you are not really interested in the Lord’s Supper. 21 For some of you hurry to eat your own meal without sharing with others. As a result, some go hungry while others get drunk. 22 What? Don’t you have your own homes for eating and drinking? Or do you really want to disgrace God’s church and shame the poor? What am I supposed to say? Do you want me to praise you? Well, I certainly will not praise you for this! 23 For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread 24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.” 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again. 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup. 29 For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of Christ, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died. 31 But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way.
