Change is tough!
Habits are comfy even when they are stinky destructive.
*Inaccurate Assumptions* – assumptions part of life, but thus can get out of control.
Communication killer in marriage, with children or parents, friendships, job, church family.

*Acknowledge you are not a mind reader!
*No mind readers.
Neither am I. God can give us insight into people’s hearts as he did Jesus, but I don’t believe that to be the norm.
We can have a lot of prior experience with someone and think we know their motives, and many times we are right just often enough to get into trouble.
Like me with Greek.
Sophomores.
Often tied to overgeneralizations – lumping one behavior or person with others inaccurately.
*Choose not to assume:* Ask God to reveal this in me, repent, set a new direction for life together.
You can choose to change direction.
It will take time and it may well be difficult.
*Check your impressions and assumptions*.
Step out and seek clarity.
“Do I have permission to read your mind”, or “May I check an assumption?”
This can be tough, and requires permission and cooperation.
People may misunderstand, but check anyway!
Don’t fall back into the misguided belief that you are marvo the magnificent.
Remember James’ words - /But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;/

Listen first.
Check assumptions.
Speak the truth in love.
*Prioritize the purpose:* building one another up in love until we all are grown up in Christ!
