Every time we go to fast food restaurants, we’re always tickled when we get our bags from the attendant…how many condiments will they put in the bag? For those that don’t have an interest in the success of the business, you might get 12 ketchups for a small order of fries (more ketchup than fries). Sometimes you’ll have to ask 3 or 4 times to get some ketchup or salt (they issue you them one at a time.
Both employees work for the same establishment/business, but the difference is in how the employees see theirselves in relationship to the success of the business…If I see my actions affecting the whole, I will walk with caution/thought but if I don’t see my actions having any any impact, then ANYTHING GOES.
SCRIPTURE READING

8 “All of the commandments that I am commanding you today you must diligently observe, so that you may live and multiply, and you may go and take possession of the land that Yahweh swore to your ancestors. 2 And you shall remember all of the way that Yahweh your God led you during these forty years in the desert in order to humble you and to test you to know what is in your heart, whether you would diligently keep his commandments or not. 3 And he humbled you and let you go hungry, and then he fed you with that which you did not know nor did your ancestors know, in order to make you know that not by bread alone but by all that goes out of the mouth of Yahweh humankind shall live.

Deuteronomy 8:1–3 ESV
1 “The whole commandment that I command you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers. 2 And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. 3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Deuteronomy = “Second Law”
Its a restatement of the Law that God gave Moses to give to the people to guide them as they were to take possession of one of God’s properties, but the 1st group of exiles died in the desert because they wouldn’t accept God’s ways (truth be told, “The Earth is the Lords....).
But said, “And the whole congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.”
FCF: sometimes, God tries to get us to a promised possession but we complain (Job, transportation, relationship, etc.)
That’s why its important that Moses told them in v.2 “you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these 40yrs in the wilderness”
FCF: Some of the credit card debt we have is because God was too slow providing, so we helped ourselves (APR at 30%, bill collectors call more than family members)
Deuteronomy 8:2 ESV
2 And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.
FCF: If God doesn’t resolve the situation immediately, we live as if he’s forgotten his promises. EXPOUND… You shall honor me all the days of your life!…we’ll believe God as long as the lights are on and the kid’s are getting good Grades

GOD RESTORES

The reason Moses is giving the Law again is because the 1st generation that left Egypt is dead.
They complained and gave up on God enough that he said, “Im done with you.” EXPOUND…at some point, God says that’s enough.
Rather than wash his hands of all the people, he says that those that were under 20yrs of age at the time of the Exit will enter into the promised land.
Some of God’s chosen people went into the desert with mother/father, but came out fatherless…motherless
FCF: Sometimes the excuse of people that grew up without my father/mother, and that is why my life is the way it is.
Read . Written by David who wasn’t even invited to the DRAFT Party!
Psalm 16:11 ESV
11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
God said, “I will restore the years the Cankerworm took away.”

GOD DELIVERS

Deuteronomy 9:1 ESV
1 “Hear, O Israel: you are to cross over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, cities great and fortified up to heaven,
Deu
Israel struggled from an identity crisis: they saw themselves as something they were not.
God was going to disarm the even the greatest enemies of Israel…He was going to bring down the walls
Number 13 33, the heads of 10 of the 12 tribes came back after spying out the land that God promised and said “we can’t take it” because we see ourselves as grasshoppers in the presence of our enemies (Nephallim)
FCF: Until you adopt God’s vision of you, you’ll always struggle unnecessarily! (work harder than you have to, stress over things that God says I’ll give you freely)

The chapter also includes an incident in which Israel is bound to defend Gibeon because of their treaty (see ch. 9). When five Canaanite kings join forces and attack, Israel fights the coalition on their behalf and defeats the enemies

The chapter also includes an incident in which Israel is bound to defend Gibeon because of their treaty (see ch. 9). When five Canaanite kings join forces and attack, Israel fights the coalition on their behalf and defeats the enemies. This battle is the occasion for Joshua’s famous prayer that the sun stand still.

In , God makes the Sun stand still in the sky so Joshua would have time to defeat his enemy

The Allied soldiers gathered many hungry, homeless children after World War II and placed them in large camps. The children were abundantly fed and cared for. However, at night they did not sleep well; they seemed restless and afraid.

The slice of bread produced marvelous results. The child would go to sleep, subconsciously feeling there was something to eat tomorrow. That calmed the child.

In David says, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Instinctively, the sheep knows the shepherd has made plans for its grazing. He knows the shepherd has made ample provision, so he will lie down in peace knowing he has a piece of bread in his hand.
