Jesus is Coming Back

It is important this morning that we continue to remember what we talked about last week as we talk about the second coming of Christ. We have primary doctrines, secondary doctrines and third doctrines.
Primary: We are willing to die for
Examples: Jesus was God in the Flesh
Saved by grace through faith alone
Secondary: Baptism of infants
Third: Christian brothers and sisters in the same church disagree about the interpretation of scripture.
Some of these third doctrines you might disagree with me on but we can disagree on these third doctrines and still be friends.
Matthew 24:30–31 HCSB
“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth will mourn; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
This is the end of the intermediate state and this will also bring about the final judgement.
Acts 1:9–11 HCSB
After He had said this, He was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took Him out of their sight. While He was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them. They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen Him going into heaven.”
This truth that Jesus is coming back is taught throughout the New Testament. I want to give you some of these verses from the New Testament so that you see he is coming back.
1 Thessalonians 2:19–20 HCSB
For who is our hope or joy or crown of boasting in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming? Is it not you? For you are our glory and joy!
1 Thessalonians 3:11–13 HCSB
Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you. And may the Lord cause you to increase and overflow with love for one another and for everyone, just as we also do for you. May He make your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints. Amen.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
1 Thessalonians 5:23 HCSB
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
You can see over an over at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus is Coming back.
You can see more references to this.

In the presence of God, who gives life to all, and of Christ Jesus, who gave a good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you to keep the command without fault or failure until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 4:1–2 HCSB
I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and because of His appearing and His kingdom: Proclaim the message; persist in it whether convenient or not; rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching.
1 Peter 1:13 HCSB
Therefore, with your minds ready for action, be serious and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 22:12 HCSB
“Look! I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me to repay each person according to what he has done.

He who testifies about these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!

Jesus is Coming Back

Jesus’s return will be unexpected.

The Bible is very clear about this.
Matthew 24:42–44 HCSB
Therefore be alert, since you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. But know this: If the homeowner had known what time the thief was coming, he would have stayed alert and not let his house be broken into. This is why you also must be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Luke 12:40 HCSB
You also be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.”
Luke

His return will be visible

Acts 1:9–11 HCSB
After He had said this, He was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took Him out of their sight. While He was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them. They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen Him going into heaven.”

Revelation 1:7 HCSB

His Return will be personal

John
John 14:1–3 HCSB
“Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.
I love how personal our God is. He knows you. He says I am going away to prepare a place for you. I will receive you to myself.
1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 HCSB
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so we will always be with the Lord.
1 John 3:2 HCSB
Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is.

Jesus’s return will be Glorious
