I. Another picture of what is to come

A continuation of the event before. What had just happened?
vv.1-5
One of the few parables that he does not explicitly explain. What do you think this means so far?
The Lord had sent the Prophets and they were rejected and killed.
vv.6-9
God Sent his beloved son and they did the same
vv.10-12
Have you not read?
Psalm 118
Jesus is in every page of the scriptures
“The Cornerstone”

II. Another bit of wisdom displayed

vv.13-15
As usual, their motive is not with a pure heart.
Most of the time the world is in the same place. Don’t be fooled by their flattery they quote God but don’t know him they claim to know some of the scriptures but reject other parts
The question is asked and it is a clever one: The back story here is that Jews were under the rule of Pagan rome. The bible tells us to honor authority but the Jews would turn on him if he were to say to pay taxes to an unbelieving pagan. So they think they have him on the ropes.
The world likes to ask unfair questions: Have you stopped beating your wife?
Do you believe in Gay marriage or do you believe that not everyone has the right to love?
Do you believe in a woman’s right over her body or do you think the government can control what she does with it?
Loaded questions with insinuations before you ever answer...
vv.16-17
“Why are you testing me?” Same word in greek that was used when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by Satan.
πειράζω
Render to Ceasar what is Ceasar’s
Render to Ceasar what is Ceasar’s
Render to God what is God’s
Give to each what they rightfully deserve.
“Christians have legitimate responsibilities to the government, and as long as that does not interfere with our ability to honor and worship God, we are to fulfill them. It is our Christian Duty” - Danny Akin
