The Vine, The Branches and The Vinedresser
The Vine, The Branches and The Vinedresser
John 15:10-11
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
John 15
Are there other vines?
*there are 3 that can be found in scripture
In old testament the Nation of Israel was called the vine.
isa 5:
What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not already done? When I expected sweet grapes, why did my vineyard give me bitter grapes?
The nation of Israel had everything it needed for success. but it produced while grapes! Instead of practicing Justice, it practice oppression; instead of practicing righteousness, it practice unrighteousness and cries from the distress of its victims. And because of this God had to deal with the nation of Israel chastise in them. When God's own son came to the vineyard they cast him out and killed Him.
2. There is also a future Vine, “the vine of the Earth.” it's described in Revelations...
I. The true source of life
I. The true source of life
Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle.
And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”
This is the gentle World System ripening for God's judgement.
rev.14:14-1
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 Jn 5:12
Jesus States “I am the true vine…”
If you keep reading on to verse 20 you will see that believers are the branches in vine live heaven,” but the unsaved are the branches of the vine yard of Earth.”
I. The true source of life
The unsaved depend on the world for their substances and satisfaction, while Believers depend on Jesus Christ. The “Vine of the Earth” will be cut down and destroy it when Jesus Christ return
And that brings us to the present- jesus said “I am the true Vine”
I. THE TRUE VINE
I. THE TRUE VINE
“I am the true vine
Jesus replaces Israel as the central focus of Yahweh’s plan of salvation, fulfilling the role of Israel as the true vine
Jesus replaces Israel as the central focus of Yahweh’s plan of salvation, fulfilling the role of Israel as the true vine
When Jesus say I am the Vine let us not look too far into it oh, the vine he is referring to is a grapevine.
the true vine Jesus is like a grapevine. Jesus is the center of the Christian faith—He is the source of life and the way to eternal life
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
So it brings me back up to the word “ true” when you start to look into the I am the True Vine you have to ask your questions while are there other Vines?
the true vine Jesus is likely referring to a grapevine. Jesus is the center of the Christian faith—He is the source of life and the way to eternal life
There are three different Vines found in scritpure
When we look at the symbolism of the vine and the branches it is similar to that of the head and the body: we have a living relationship to Christ and belong to Him.
is found in the old testament referring to the nation of Israel (; ; ; ; )
When we think of Jesus as the Vine let us not think of the little frail grapevines that we see at the grocery store where the vines and branches are easily the broken off.
Let me sing for my beloved my love song concerning his vineyard: My beloved had a vineyard on a very fertile hill.
He dug it and cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; and he looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes.
And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard.
What more was there to do for my vineyard, that I have not done in it? When I looked for it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes?
And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will remove its hedge, and it shall be devoured; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down.
I will make it a waste; it shall not be pruned or hoed, and briers and thorns shall grow up; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are his pleasant planting; and he looked for justice, but behold, bloodshed; for righteousness, but behold, an outcry!
II. THE VINEDRESSER
II. THE VINEDRESSER
My Father is the vinedresser.
2. There is also a future Vine, “the vine of the Earth.” it's desc
The vine dresser is in charge of caring for the vines, and Jesus said that this is the work of the father. it is the father who prunes the branches so that they will produce more fruit.
Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle.
And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”
rev 14:14-1
rev 14:14-20
many Christians pray that God will make them more fruitful, but they do not enjoy the pruning process that follows.
Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and seated on the cloud one like a son of man, with a golden crown on his head, and a sharp sickle in his hand.
And another angel came out of the temple, calling with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, “Put in your sickle, and reap, for the hour to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is fully ripe.”
So he who sat on the cloud swung his sickle across the earth, and the earth was reaped.
Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle.
And another angel came out from the altar, the angel who has authority over the fire, and he called with a loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, “Put in your sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, for its grapes are ripe.”
So the angel swung his sickle across the earth and gathered the grape harvest of the earth and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress, as high as a horse’s bridle, for 1,600 stadia.
This is the gentle World System ripening for God's judgement.
Grapevines are more plentiful if pruned. The pruning may refer to hardship that (eventually) produces faithfulness and closer relationship with God, such as the disciples are about to experience
If you keep reading on to verse 20 you will see that believers are the branches in vine live heaven,” but the unsaved are the branches of the vine yard of Earth.”
vinedresser prunes branches in two ways:
Grapevines are more plentiful if pruned. The pruning may refer to hardship that (eventually) produces faithfulness and closer relationship with God, such as the disciples are about to experience
Grapevines are more plentiful if pruned. The pruning may refer to hardship that (eventually) produces faithfulness and closer relationship with God, such as the disciples are about to experience
Beyonce depend on the world for their substances and satisfaction, while Believers depend on Jesus Christ. The “Vineof the Earth” will be cut down and destroy it when Jesus Christ return
He cuts away dead wood that can breed disease and insects, he cuts away living tissue so that the life of the vine will not be jeopardized. In fact the vinedresser will even cut away whole branches of grapes so the rest of the crop will be of higher quality.
We may not want to accept it but the pruning process is on of the most important parts to the growth.
It’s important that we go through the pruning process, one of the greatest judgements God could bring to a believer would be to let them alone. let him to his own way.
I. The True Vine
I. The True Vine
But because God loves us he prunes us and encourage us to bear more fruit for His glory.
If branches to speak, they would confess that the pruning process Hurts,But they would also rejoice, that they were able to produce more and better fruit.
the true vine is Jesus. Jesus is the center of the Christian faith—He is the source of life and the way to eternal life
Your heavenly father is never closer to you then he is when he's pruning you. sometimes he cuts away the Deadwood that might cause trouble but often he cuts off living tissue that is robbing you from your spiritual vigor.
Jesus replaces Israel as the central focus of Yahweh’s plan of salvation, fulfilling the role of Israel as the true vine
pruning does not mean spiritual surgery that removes is bad. It can also mean cutting away the good and the better so that we might enjoy the best. yes, pruning Hurts, but it also helps. we may not enjoy it but we need it.
When we look at the symbolism of the vine and the branches it is similar to that of the head and the body: we have a living relationship to Christ and belong to Him.
Jesus replaces Israel as the central focus of Yahweh’s plan of salvation, fulfilling the role of Israel as the true vine
III. THE BRANCHES
III. THE BRANCHES
When we think of Jesus as the Vine let us not think of the little frail grapevines that we see at the grocery store where the vines
A branch of itself, is weak and useless. it is only good for either burning or bearing but not for building. the branch cannot produce his own life; you must draw that life from the Vine.
that is our communion with Christ, through the spirit makes it possible to bear fruit.
there are many examples of this communion with Christ throughout scripture for example the body and its members ; the bride and the bridegroom ; the sheep and the shepherd ;
a member of the body cut off with die
The marriage creates a union, but it takes daily love and devotion to maintain the communion.
The shepherd brings the Sheep into the flock, but the sheet must follow the Shepherd in order to have the protection and provision.
the sooner we as believers discover that we are branches, the better we will relate to the Lord for we will know our own weakness and confess our need for his strength .
Different kinds of spiritual fruit
Winning others for Christ
Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.
)
We are apart of the harvest
Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!
And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’
I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
)
As we grow in holiness and obedience, we are bearing fruit
But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
rom 6:22)
Christian giving to be fruit from a dedicated life
Therefore, when I have performed this and have sealed to them this fruit, I shall go by way of you to Spain.
the fruit of the Spirit
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
- Christian character that glorifies God and make Christ real to others

our good works, our service
that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
the praise that come from our heart and lips
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
