The Suffering of This Present Time

Introduction

Today I had three people in my life reveal very painful stories of suffering, pain and fear that that either had to endure or are enduring right now. I was so moved by what I read on Facebook and was told in person that in prayer seeking the God of all comfort for them but also seeking the God who is faithful, just and true for understanding. You see these stories were ones that touched me because I personally knew the people involved, but, the world is, has been and will be filled with stories similar to these. Many more will come into my path as a minster of the gospel and believed that the God who loves us with an everlasting love could give me wisdom that I could share both now and in the future. I believe he has given me a glimpse that may help you as you endure the suffering of today by knowing that you are randomly going through hardships and tragedies.

Jeremiah 29:10–11 The Message

This is God’s Word on the subject: “As soon as Babylon’s seventy years are up and not a day before, I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

The Israelites were in captivity as slaves in Babylon as this verse depicts, I believe that suffering through tragedies and trials not of our own making is a form of captivity.

Romans 8:18–30 KJV 1900

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
