“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
“Then it will be, if they do not believe you, nor heed the message of the first sign, that they may believe the message of the latter sign. And it shall be, if they do not believe even these two signs, or listen to your voice, that you shall take water from the river and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take from the river will become blood on the dry land.”
Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”
So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?
Exodus 4:8-
For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
Hebrews 4:
●shabath - The word Sabbath does not mean 7th. It means rest.
●Strong's H7673 (71x) in the following manner: cease (47x), rest (11x),
●God did all the work of Creation then Rested from his Work, Then created Adam
● Adams first day is the Sabbath
● Christ died on Friday (preparation day) and was tombed same day
●Thus Christ Rest on Sabbath from his perfect completed work of redemption
●Sunday (1st day) showed he resurrected and that God accepted His perfect work
How are we going to accomplish enter into His rest.
God's people were required to do two things and you'll find that find this in in and also verse 26 to 32.
God's people were required to do two things and you'll find that find this in in and also verse 26 to 32.
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. And you shall do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord your God. For any person who is not afflicted in soul on that same day shall be cut off from his people. And any person who does any work on that same day, that person I will destroy from among his people. You shall do no manner of work; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. It shall be to you a sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath.”
Leviticus
NKJVAnd the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement.
Afflict is Hebrew is you shall deny yourselves The bible says that Any person listen to this any person who is not afflicted their soul any person who does not deny self on that same day shall be cut off from his people you we'll be deprived of the hope of salvation and any person who does any work on that same day that person will be destroyed from among the people. This is a very serious thing not to be taken lightly.
This shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings it shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest and you shall afflict or deny yourself or your soul on the ninth day of the month at evening from evening to evening you shall celebrate your Sabbath.
Now unfortunately because the Jews were living under the Old Covenant salvation by human works or human effort or law keeping these Jews gave a wrong interpretation to these two requirements.Denying yourself: they denied themselves from alcohol on that day they denied themselves from all the pledges of life they fasted on that day and the women removed all their jewelry on that day. Thats all good but Nothing wrong with that but that is not what God was expecting from them they kept that day as a solemn day of rest no work in which no work was to be done.
The Jewish people were caught up in there work
God's people were required to do two things
Christ is their foundation of that he's the lord of the Sabbath.
The formula of the gospel when He applied to our lives is Not I but Christ. That's the formula of the gospel.
Paul makes it clear in NKJV I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
NKJVI have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
I am crucified with Christ I'm still living it is not I but Christ lives in me.
I am crucified with Christ I'm still living it is not I but Christ lives in me and the
So my dear friends the two requirements that we have to conduct ourselves as we come to the end of the world as we as we face the judgment is
Unfortunately the Jews applied the above two requirements in a legalistic manner instead of giving them a gospel application which is what the Sanctuary service was all about.
Unfortunately the Jews applied the above two requirements in a legalistic manner instead of giving them a gospel application which is what the Sanctuary service was all about.
we must completely deny ourselves of any self-righteousness.
And in exchange we must rest totally on Christ righteousness only then can Jesus be our advocate our high priest to vindicate us.
The first requirement
The first requirement
“Afflict the soul”
“Afflict the soul”
Which in Hebrew meant,
Which in Hebrew meant,
“Denying yourself” of every aspect of self-righteousness.
“Denying yourself” of every aspect of self-righteousness.
NKJVFor we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.
and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
As Christian should lose all confidence in self and rest totally in Christ their Savior.
NKJVand be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
Paul says and I want to be found in Him in Christ not having my own righteousness which is from the law. So here even though he was very successful in keeping the rules of Judaism which they believed was keeping the law he was very successful who read was four to six will find that yet he gave this all up, he denied himself of all his self righteously and he wants to be found in him not having my own righteousness which is from the law but that which is through faith in Christ the righteousness which is from God by faith. That is what it means to deny self.
The second requirement:
The second requirement:
“Enter into the Sabbath of solemn rest”
“Enter into the Sabbath of solemn rest”
Which meant resting completely Hundred percent In the righteousness of Christ the Lord of the Sabbath. ;
Which meant resting completely Hundred percent In the righteousness of Christ the Lord of the Sabbath. ;
Twice in mark 2:28 and Christ made it clear to the Jews.
The Jesus accuse Jesus of braking the sabbath at least 4 times. Jesus was not braking the sabbath He was braking their traditions. Jesus declares
Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”
Yes we do many good things we keep the law we do good works as the fruits of salvation as the evidence of salvation as a demonstration of the part of the gospel in our life but never to contribute towards our salvation. Our salvation is based entirely on Jesus Christ.
Yes we do many good things we keep the law we do good works as the fruits of salvation as the evidence of salvation as a demonstration of the part of the gospel in our life but never to contribute towards our salvation. Our salvation is based entirely on Jesus Christ.
These two requirements are the subjective application of the gospel Not I but Christ.

The doctrine of dispensation.
The doctrine of dispensation.
How does the Sabbath rest point to the gospel
How does the Sabbath rest point to the gospel
There are many Christians in fact the majority of them believe in the doctrine of dispensationalism which is unbiblical.
There's only one way that God saves mankind from Adam to the last person and that's by faith in Jesus Christ.
The only difference was in the Old Testament the gospel was a promise.
In the New Testament it's a reality.
Dispensation doctrine teaches that when Christ came to save the world by grace he did away with the law he nailed it on the cross so that the law is no longer binding on the Christian.
having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Col 2:14
And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
What Jesus nailed to the cross was the all of the laws that the Jews had. The laws that they accuse Jesus of braking. not the sabbath.
The Sabbath is God's day of rest. It was made for men but it does not belong to men.
The Sabbath is God's day of rest. It was made for men but it does not belong to men.
That’s the first thing we must realize. Here are some clear proofs
The sabbath is not our day it is God day.
NKJVbut the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.
but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.
NKJV but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.
“The seventh day is the Sabbath of whom the Lord thy God.” It doesn't belong to us, it doesn't belong to seventh-day Adventists, it does not belong to seventh day Baptist, or he doesn't belong to any human organization or human being.
“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
NKJV“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
NKJV“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
“my Sabbath you shall keep” God calls it His Sabbath not your my Sabbath.
NKJV“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words,
“My holy day…. the holy of the Lord” The Sabbath was not made for the Jews in fact Jesus said the Sabbath was made for men and the Hebrew and the Greek word is mankind.
The Sabbath rest points to the gospel which is good news. because it is the life death and resurrection of Jesus.
The Sabbath and Christ are inseparable.
The Bible constantly remind us that Christ is the source of our creation, he is the source of our Redemption, and he is the source of our restoration.
Please don't treat the Sabbath lightly the Sabbath is the one that points to Christ who will ultimately restore this earth to its original perfection. Our job from beginning to end is to enter into his rest, which is by faith. This is what makes the seventh-day Sabbath a day of joy and gladness. It is a constant reminder to all believers that as long as they are resting by faith in the righteousness of Christ, Lord of the Sabbath their salvation is guaranteed.
The seventh day belongs to God, yes it was made for us because He wants us to rest in his salvation He wants to rest in Him.
The seventh day belongs to God, yes it was made for us because He wants us to rest in his salvation He wants to rest in Him.
The Sabbath is God's seventh day. He created this world in six days and rested on the seventh day. Man was created at the end of the sixth day.
The Sabbath is God's seventh day. He created this world in six days and rested on the seventh day. Man was created at the end of the sixth day.
When Adam and Eve opened their eyes for the first time they saw a perfect and finished creation. What did they do the next day because the God Sabbath it was not the seventh day it was their first day it was God's seventh day, it was Adams and Eve's first day.
But one testified in a certain place, saying:
“What is man that You are mindful of him,
Or the son of man that You take care of him?
You have made him a little lower than the angels;
You have crowned him with glory and honor,
And set him over the works of Your hands.
You have put all things in subjection under his feet.”
For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him.
For the first whole day they kept the Sabbath they entered into God's rest. By this they were saying we accept the creation that you have made for us that's the significant. Very important God's Sabbath is men's first day.
Heb 2:6
Now what's the significance of this? God first works and then rests from His perfect and finished work for mankind.
Please turn to Hebrews chapter 2 and I read verse six seven and eight but one testifies in a certain place saying what is man that you are mindful of him or the Son of man that you take care of him you have made him a little lower than the Angels but you have crowned him with glory and honour and set him over the works of your hands you have put all things in subjection under his feet. so God gave Adam and Eve dominion over all this earth all that Adam had to do was enter his rest so that the next six days he could enjoy to him work was not sweat he could enjoy God's creation.
Why does he arrest not because he's tired not because he wants a break He rested for two reasons what he created was very good and number 2 His creation was perfect and finished.
what he created was very good and number 2 his creation was perfect and finished.
You can add to it you can improve on it that's why he rested on the seventh day Man does not begin by working but resting in God's perfect and finished work of him. ,; That is what Adam and Eve did they entered into God's rest.
Both, creation and redemption were accomplished by God through Jesus Christ.
Both, creation and redemption were accomplished by God through Jesus Christ.
Adam and Eve sind
He is not only a redeemer he's also a creator
NKJVAll things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
Number one Christ is the creator of this world he's also the lord of the Sabbath because he rested from all his work. Christ is also the source of redemption
NKJVfor all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
NKJVTherefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.
Christ is the source of salvation. which we've read before says that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law. Christ is both the creator and Redeemer and the Sabbath points to both.
Christ finished both, on the sixth day. And in both cases Christ rested on the seventh day. 31 ,
Christ finished both, on the sixth day. And in both cases Christ rested on the seventh day. 31 ,
NKJVSo when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
At the end of the sixth day, which is, Friday Jesus said it is finished and he bowed his head and died. The sixth day he said it is finished and then Christ rested in the tomb on the seventh day. 31 points to the statement Jesus made it is finished and
And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last.
Luke 23:
Luke 23:46
That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near.
NKJVAnd when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last.
NKJVThat day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near.
Luke tells us clearly that he rested on the Sabbath. That his disciples went home and prepared ointment before the Sabbath began so that they could anoint his body when the first day began. So please remember the Sabbath today has dual significance perfect creation.
Note: That Christ completed his perfect work of redemption on the 6 day.. The same as he did in creation and after completing that perfect life and death on the cross. After completing and providing that perfect redemptive rest for mankind on the 6th day what did he do? He rested on the His Sabbath Day. Christ could not put us back in Eden (Rest) as sinners. He has to free us from sin buy His blood. So he could not restore the creation Rest without also providing Redemptive Rest. This is why the Sabbath represents both the restoring of creation and restoring of man from sin.
The Sabbath therefore becomes a constant reminder that our perfect and finished Redemption was fulfilled in Christ at the cross we can add nothing to it.
The Sabbath therefore becomes a constant reminder that our perfect and finished Redemption was fulfilled in Christ at the cross we can add nothing to it.
Our Sabbath keeping doesn't add to our salvation our Sabbath keeping is entering into God's rest the rest he gave us in Christ.
Our Sabbath keeping doesn't add to our salvation our Sabbath keeping is entering into God's rest the rest he gave us in Christ.
Since the fall the Sabbath was given by God as an everlasting covenant between him the provider and mankind the recipient. ,
Since the fall the Sabbath was given by God as an everlasting covenant between him the provider and mankind the recipient. ,
and we read
NKJVTherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.
and
NKJVAnd He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
The Greek (anthropos) mankind not Jews only the entire human race.
The Greek (anthropos) mankind not Jews only the entire human race.
This gospel truth the Jews completely failed to realize because they entered into the old covenant with God at Mount Sinai the book of Hebrews, which is written for the Jews in the New Testament times, clearly bring this out.
Listen to Hebrews chapter 4 listen to what the writer of Hebrews has to say to the Christian Jews of the New Testament time who were in danger of giving up Christ the Lord of the Sabbath and returning back to Judaism chapter 4 of Hebrews verse 1 to 4 therefore since a promise remains of entering his rest have you got it of entering his rest let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it for indeed the gospel was preached to us that is the Jews of the New Testament as well as to them the Jews of the Exodus through the sanctuary model but the word which they heard that his excellent Jews heard did not profit them not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
The sanctuary model that God gives through Moses was a visual aid of the plan of salvation it was God show and tell and they completely twisted the significance they made that type the reality they thought by offering animal sacrifices they could go to heaven none of those worldly symbols they were signs the true sacrifice is Christ verse 3 for we that is the New Testament believers who have believed do enter that rest as he said so I saw in my rath this is the Old Testament statement to the Jews of the Exodus they shall not enter my arrest not because they are sinners because they refuse to enter God's rest which is the Sabbath the sign although their works were finished from the foundation of the world
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
God chose us in Christ so that we may be holy and without blame God trained our salvation before the foundation of the world.
God chose us in Christ so that we may be holy and without blame God trained our salvation before the foundation of the world.
God chose us in Christ so that we may be holy and without blame God trained our salvation before the foundation of the world and then verse 4 for he has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way and God rested on the seventh day from all his works why was he tired no if you want a tea break no he rested because his work was perfect and finished that's the significance of the Sabbath he points to God as the perfect creator and a perfect Redeemer and that perfect God is Jesus Christ. let's go down to verse 8 onwards of remember it was Joshua who brought the Jews into Canaan and some Bibles will have the word Jesus in verse 8 for if Joshua had given them rest the word Joshua is the same word as Jesus one is Hebrew one is Greek so he's not referring into chapter 8 verse 8 of chapter 4 to Jesus he's referring to Joshua who brought the Jews into Canaan for if Joshua had given them rest if Canan was the real rest not the type but a real dress then he would not afterward have spoken of another day the other day is the coming of Christ who would give us the real rest remember what Jesus said to the Jews come to me who labored heavy laden and I will give you rest he's the real rest Canaan was not the real rest in fact today it is hardly a place where there is rest now verse 9 there remains therefore a rest for the people of God we must never read a text out of context what did the writer of Hebrews mean by the people of God he does not mean Christian he must be honest with the text he means the Jewish nation there remains therefore a rest for the people of God. Now here's my question do the Jews today - are they not keeping the Sabbath oh yes they're keeping it very meticulously The question is this, are they resting in Christ. Is their Sabbath keeping pointing to their rest in the redemption that is in Christ? Sabbath day itself doesn’t save keeping the day doesn't save you, is what it points to that saves. The big issue is, are you resting in Christ if you are you will keep the day as a day of rest and worship. Not because you want to be saved the fact that you don't work on the Sabbath has no merits it's reminding you what it represents. Lets look at verse 10. For he who has entered his God's rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did for me. The moment you enter into God's rest by faith of which the Sabbath is a sign you will stop trying to earn your way to heaven or contribute towards your salvation. You are resting entirely in Christ that is why God says don't work on the Sabbath not that it has any merits but it is reminding us that we are resting in the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ. That's the significance of the Sabbath in the light of the gospel The good news of the gospel is that the Sabbath rest, on which Adam turned his back has been restored by Christ's earthly mission (His birth, life, death and resurrection.Yes we still have to work for our living until Christ comes but we are resting on the Sabbath to remind us that Christ's mission on earth, His birth life death and resurrection has produced for us in righteousness a salvation that is full and complete we can improve on it you can add to it.

In verse 8 of chapter 4 Jesus he's referring to Joshua who brought the Jews into Canaan for if Joshua had given them rest if Canaan was the real rest not the type but a real rest then he would not afterward have spoken of another day. the other day is the coming of Christ who would give us the real rest
remember what Jesus said to the Jews come to me who labored heavy laden and I will give you rest he's the real rest
Canaan was not the real rest in fact today it is hardly a place where there is rest now
verse 9 there remains therefore a rest for the people of God
Sabbath day itself doesn’t save keeping the day doesn't save you, is what it points to that saves. Jesus

Yes we still have to work for our living until Christ comes but we are resting on the Sabbath to remind us that Christ's mission on earth, His birth life death and resurrection has produced for us in righteousness a salvation that is full and complete we can improve on it you can add to it.
Today the Sabbath rest has a threefold application to all believers.
Today the Sabbath rest has a threefold application to all believers.
Number 1
One It points to a perfect and finished creation which fallen humanity has ruined.
One It points to a perfect and finished creation which fallen humanity has ruined.
We are living in a world that is aging we are living in a world that has been totally ruined it's getting very hard for us to exist. Do you know. 40% of the human race today will go to bed with an empty stomach we are overcrowded people are fleeing from other countries to find refuge children are ripped from their parents. This is all because the sin problem.
Number 2.
Number 2.
The Sabbath points to a perfect and finished redemption, which believers rejoice in being reminded weekly by our Sabbath keeping.
The Sabbath points to a perfect and finished redemption, which believers rejoice in being reminded weekly by our Sabbath keeping.
Our Sabbath keeping is to remind us that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone because of Christ alone. We are resting in the perfect work of Christ. Sabbath keeping is not belonging to the Old Covenant. (Works) Sabbath keeping is a sign of the new covenant salvation by grace alone, salvation by what Christ accomplished for mankind.
And finally the sabbath points believers to a blessed hope
And finally the sabbath points believers to a blessed hope
In Heaven all flesh will come to worship on the Sabbath Day And
In Heaven all flesh will come to worship on the Sabbath Day And
Isaiah 6:22-23
“For as the new heavens and the new earth
Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord,
“So shall your descendants and your name remain.
And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
Isaiah 66
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
Revelation 22
,
, introduces one other thing it says there is when we go come to this earth made new when we are redeemed from one Sabbath to another all flesh will be keeping the Sabbath.
●The gospel has made a way of escape for us from self-dependence, which is the source of all our problems.
The Gospel restores our “God-dependence”, which is the source of all our joy and happiness.
●The New Testament is replete with admonitions that we should not obey the law as a means of salvation though we obey the law as the standard of Christian living. ( ) The law/ Sabbath are obeyed not to earn salvation but the law/ sabbath are the reality of the Salvation in Christ we have accepted by faith. We don’t keep the law to be saved we keep the law because by faith we have accepted the Salvation of Christ. And we do so by hearing and accepting the Gospel of Jesus the Christ. God called Abraham and promised Abraham and his seed salvation through Him. Abraham accepted this by faith.. But after he did God gave him an outward sign by which to symbolize his inner faith. what was that sign?
So when we enter into God’s rest, His day of rest must become our day of rest. This is the outward sign that we have chosen to live by faith alone. Keeping the Sabbath from this motivation of faith is true Sabbath keeping.
At the end of time the issue will not be between two groups of christians
At the end of time the issue will not be between two groups of christians
Note: In the end time, all who come under the banner of Christ will worship the Lord of the Sabbath; their Sabbath keeping will be the outward sign or seal of the Salvation and Righteousness of Christ they have already received by faith.
Therefore, the issue in the final conflict will not be between two groups of Christians, or even between two rest days, but primarily between two opposing methods of salvation.
The conflict will be between the seventh-day Sabbath, signifying salvation by faith in Christ alone, and Sunday, signifying salvation by merit human effort.
No Human effort can save us “Not I but Christ” We are saved by Jesus christ we cannot enter into His rest unless we totally surrender to the Lord of the Sabbath.
We will enter into Christ Sabbath rest not by our doing but by His doing.
Jesus says to you and me in John
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.
This applies to every thing that we do. This applies to all of His commands. We cant chose which ones to keep.
So many of us are going to lose out of because we want to do thing our way, we want to live life our way, we want to have it our way. Jesus says
Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
This is going to be good people who call on the name of the Lord.
Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Solomon Northrop 12 years a Slave.
Imagine being sold into slavery but to a good master. He love his servants, cares for them, feeds them only works them 8 hours. Allows them lunch, pays them for their labor with food, clothing, housing and a savings and sets them free after 7 years. Then allows them the choice to join his family and be called by his name as heirs to all he owns.
But immagine one day the Master faces hardship. A war and bad winters destroys the crop. He is forced to sell land and some slaves. He sells the strongest slaves knowing only they can survive the cruelty of an ungodly slave master. Solomon is sold with his family.
His new master is harsh beats him every day. Does not feed them, does not give them proper clothes, does not allow them rest or breaks. Works them for 12 hours each day. Until one day that master decides to sell Solomons family. Solomon begs and begs to no avail he is whipped to let go the hands of his wife and children. He lays pin to the ground watching them carried off to another plantation.
He later learns that skilled slaves can work on weekends as Blacksmiths, painters, carpenters etc. He is skilled and he pleads with his master to let him work on weekends for the money to pay for his children. The massa agrees to lease him out and pay him 5c per day for his labor. He works weekends for 2 months then greets the Massa smiling .. Massa how much mo I gotta work to gets my family back .. The massa says you have earned 80 cents for working weekends for 2 months. Solomon says massa let ,me work nights on the plantation. I will work from sunrise to sunset and sunset to midnight and weekends massa. The massa allows him solomon returns in a month and asks how much more has he earned the massa tells him 35cents more. The massa tells him he needs to reach $2000 five hundred for each of his 3 children and wife.
Solomon then begs massa lemme work from Sunrise to sunset to sunrise I want my family I won't rest. I will work massa i want my family. So he works 24 hours and weekends for a week and collapses.. He has no cartilage left in his joints, no flesh on his heels, he can no longer stand upright he confronts the massa ..How much mo massa??? The massa then informs him he has not even earned $100 and he actually need $3000 because he must pay $1000 for himself before he can leave to go get his family.
Solomon decides he no longer wants to live…..
