Leviticus

NKJVAnd the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement.

It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.

And you shall do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord your God.

For any person who is not afflicted in soul on that same day shall be cut off from his people.

And any person who does any work on that same day, that person I will destroy from among his people.

You shall do no manner of work; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

It shall be to you a sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath.”

Afflict is Hebrew is you shall deny yourselves The bible says that Any person listen to this any person who is not afflicted their soul any person who does not deny self on that same day shall be cut off from his people you we'll be deprived of the hope of salvation and any person who does any work on that same day that person will be destroyed from among the people.

This is a very serious thing not to be taken lightly.

This shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings it shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest and you shall afflict or deny yourself or your soul on the ninth day of the month at evening from evening to evening you shall celebrate your Sabbath.

Now unfortunately because the Jews were living under the Old Covenant salvation by human works or human effort or law keeping these Jews gave a wrong interpretation to these two requirements.Denying yourself: they denied themselves from alcohol on that day they denied themselves from all the pledges of life they fasted on that day and the women removed all their jewelry on that day.

Thats all good but Nothing wrong with that but that is not what God was expecting from them they kept that day as a solemn day of rest no work in which no work was to be done.

The Jewish people were caught up in there work

God's people were required to do two things

Christ is their foundation of that he's the lord of the Sabbath.

The formula of the gospel when He applied to our lives is Not I but Christ.

So my dear friends the two requirements that we have to conduct ourselves as we come to the end of the world as we as we face the judgment is

Unfortunately the Jews applied the above two requirements in a legalistic manner instead of giving them a gospel application which is what the Sanctuary service was all about.

we must completely deny ourselves of any self-righteousness.

And in exchange we must rest totally on Christ righteousness only then can Jesus be our advocate our high priest to vindicate us.

The first requirement

“Afflict the soul”

Which in Hebrew meant,

“Denying yourself” of every aspect of self-righteousness.

As Christian should lose all confidence in self and rest totally in Christ their Savior.

Paul says and I want to be found in Him in Christ not having my own righteousness which is from the law.

So here even though he was very successful in keeping the rules of Judaism which they believed was keeping the law he was very successful who read was four to six will find that yet he gave this all up, he denied himself of all his self righteously and he wants to be found in him not having my own righteousness which is from the law but that which is through faith in Christ the righteousness which is from God by faith.

That is what it means to deny self.

The second requirement:

“Enter into the Sabbath of solemn rest”

Which meant resting completely Hundred percent In the righteousness of Christ the Lord of the Sabbath.

Twice in mark 2:28 and Christ made it clear to the Jews.

The Jesus accuse Jesus of braking the sabbath at least 4 times.

Jesus was not braking the sabbath He was braking their traditions.

The doctrine of dispensation.

How does the Sabbath rest point to the gospel

There are many Christians in fact the majority of them believe in the doctrine of dispensationalism which is unbiblical.

There's only one way that God saves mankind from Adam to the last person and that's by faith in Jesus Christ.

The only difference was in the Old Testament the gospel was a promise.

In the New Testament it's a reality.

Dispensation doctrine teaches that when Christ came to save the world by grace he did away with the law he nailed it on the cross so that the law is no longer binding on the Christian.

Col 2:14

What Jesus nailed to the cross was the all of the laws that the Jews had.

The laws that they accuse Jesus of braking.

not the sabbath.

The Sabbath is God's day of rest.

It was made for men but it does not belong to men.

That’s the first thing we must realize.

Here are some clear proofs

The sabbath is not our day it is God day.

It doesn't belong to us, it doesn't belong to seventh-day Adventists, it does not belong to seventh day Baptist, or he doesn't belong to any human organization or human being.

the holy of the Lord” The Sabbath was not made for the Jews in fact Jesus said the Sabbath was made for men and the Hebrew and the Greek word is mankind.

The Sabbath rest points to the gospel which is good news.

because it is the life death and resurrection of Jesus.

The Sabbath and Christ are inseparable.

The Bible constantly remind us that Christ is the source of our creation, he is the source of our Redemption, and he is the source of our restoration.

Please don't treat the Sabbath lightly the Sabbath is the one that points to Christ who will ultimately restore this earth to its original perfection.
