The day of Pentecost was the birth of the church. For the first time the Spirit of God would breath upon the life of the people of God. This would represent the most significant change in the life of the people of God.
Up to this time God's covenant people was limited by heritage and culture. The coming of the Holy Spirit changed everything. Now God's covenant would reach beyond a single people group to the utermost parts of the earth. For the first time the biblical narrative would be for a people empowered by the spirit of God.

What cause the initial expansion of the church? (Acts 2:14-36)

The core reason for early church growth was the preaching of the Gospel.

What Is the Gospel(Good News)?

++What God had promised through His prophetic messages had been completely fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
++The pouring out of His Spirit upon all people was the proof of the ++promise being fulfilled.
++Jesus Christ would arise to a position even higher than the revered King David which called him Lord.
++Jesus is the promised Messiah and Highest authority above all kingdoms.
++This same Jesus came as the servant of God to demonstrate God's Great love for all man through his own sacrifice.

What was the response to the Gospel? ()

The people had
++Inner conviction
++They sought a solution
The declaration of the gospel declared
++The Promise of God
++The Proof of the Promise Fulfilled
++The Position of man
++The Power of truth
When confronted with truth what happens?
++Embrace the truth
++Reject the truth
++Ignore the truth
When the truth is revealed we must change.
John 8:32 KJV 1900
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
What was Peter's answer? (Acts 2:38)

++Repentance
++Baptism
++Remission of Sin
++Receive the Holy Ghost
Why were these things important? (Acts 2:39-40)
++This is the promise that effects everyone the Lord shall call
++We live in an untoward generation
++This is your salvation

++They were glad about it
++They were baptized
++3000 souls were added
The work of the Spirit was not the climax of their experience. It was just the beginning. The heart and spirit of the church was unified. The newfound love for God extended into the life of all of those that believed.
This unity was expressed in their
++Dedication to learning
++Desire for fellowship
++Devotion to one another
++Devoted prayer
This not only resulted in a model church, It also served as a catalyst in the work of the ministry. They all believed.
Acts 2:46–47 KJV 1900
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Acts 2:46-47

If the cell is for the growth and unity of the church it is vital that the leaders be in unity.
All cell leaders
Will be in the pastor's leadership Cell
Will be active members and in the church
Will have signed member covenant
Will attend Sunday services
Will attend Sunday School and Bible Studies
Will pray daily for the pastor and attend NAG Prayer Clinic

As a leader you should plan to be at all services and discipleship events. This is vital because leaders set the example.
