Herod didn’t like the message (of repentance).

Jesus is King.When we pray for God’s will to be done [on earth] as in Heaven, we’re asking for God’s rule to enter the situation.

remember Nineveh’s repentance:

To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever.

nothing left to be fulfilled… end is near… eternity is at hand.work of repentance: self-controlled, sober-minded… for effective praying...We’re Turning to God; to receive his Word (in his kingdom)

Nearness to God is Hot.

Presence of God is often described as fire.

Burning Bush.

Lord descended on Sinai in Fire.

Pillar of fire that led Israel.

Isaiah’s unclean lips were touched with a burning coal... 6:6

John the Baptist says Jesus will baptize with Spirit and Fire.

 each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.
