The Motivation of Love

It’s the same with all the massive ad campaigns that fail. Trying to get someone to quit smoking or stop drugs because of the pain they depict in the ad is the wrong approach. If we suddenly focused on the pleasure someone would have when they stopped smoking or taking drugs, we’d be moving in the right direction.
This is so obvious to me after watching the movie. Our goal as marketing and business people isn’t to tell people what’s wrong with them or to remind them of their pain, but to help them imagine and then experience the pleasure they long to have.
Love moves everyone.

Love is the great motivator.
According to my friend Kevin Hogan, author of “The Psychology of Persuasion,” love isn’t an emotion but a mindset. And as a mindset, it is actually stronger than any emotion.

The way of love. Father to Son to Disciples
John 15:9–10 ESV
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
John 16:25-
John 16:25–28 NLT
“I have spoken of these matters in figures of speech, but soon I will stop speaking figuratively and will tell you plainly all about the Father. Then you will ask in my name. I’m not saying I will ask the Father on your behalf, for the Father himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from God. Yes, I came from the Father into the world, and now I will leave the world and return to the Father.”
A time is coming when we receive things more clearly.
We did receive this through the other books of the new testament
Why? Because the Father loves you dearly.
Love is a powerful motivator.
People will sacrifice greatly for love even lay thier lives down, wether it be a spouse, children, family, friends or a nation. People are motivated by love
The love they feel for and the love they feel from something.
So how much more should the love of the Father be a motivator?
even look at the disciples response. It is not perfect and it is not developed but look at what the love of the father is building up in them already from just haven been told that the Father loves them deeply
John 16:29–30 NLT
Then his disciples said, “At last you are speaking plainly and not figuratively. Now we understand that you know everything, and there’s no need to question you. From this we believe that you came from God.”
John 16:
They went from confused, frustrated, and fearful to motivated and confident, just because Jesus told them that the Father loves them!
Love is the most powerful motivator.
John 16:31 ESV
Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?

Jesus knows that it is the beginning of something but not yet full, understanding but it will come to that.
John 16:32 ESV
Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
John 16:32-33
Jesus himself is motivated by the Love of the Father. He is going to show them just how far the Love of the Father can motivate, just how much the Love of the Father can accomplish.
John 3:16 NKJV
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 16:33
John 16:33 ESV
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Jesus is letting them know, tonight it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better
Extreme darkness before the light
Extreme pain and sorrow and division is coming before it will get better
But I am telling you this to have peace
Why?
Because I have overcome the world!!!!
So we see that the love of the Father is the motivation
He loves us deeply
So deeply that he sent Jesus to take our pain our sorrow our sin our penalty, our punishment upon himself
He has full and complete and perfect victory
He has overcome the world
Jesus was motivated by the fathers love for us and for him
The Fathers love is the motivator
1 John 4:19 NIV
We love because he first loved us.
Ephesians 3:14–21 NIV
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
