Lift your voice to praise the Lord.
Acts 4:23-
Praise God Creator
The Lord is sovereign.
God posesess supreme authority.
He holds complete power and authority over
The earth
The sea
Heaven
And everything in them
He showed his sovereignty in creation.
God has shown us who he is because he wants us to know him.
We come to know him through his creation.
We know God because chose to reveal him self to us by his creation and by his word.
Thomas Aquinas in his book Summa Theologica expresses how God does exist and why we should worship him as the Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and the earth, the sea and everything in them.
Five Ways
Thomas Aquinas (1225–1274), author of Summa Theologica, wrote an article on wether God exist in this volume in his great work of teaching the doctrines of the Church.
This article is Thomas addressing the Question does God exist.
God tells us of his existence in
(1225–1274),
Thomas answers the question of God’s existence in five ways
First way is Motion.
The first and more manifest way is the argument from motion.
Therefore, whatever is in motion must be put in motion by another.
If that by which it is put in motion be itself put in motion, then this also must needs be put in motion by another, and that by another again.
Therefore, whatever is in motion must be put in motion by another.
If that by which it is put in motion be itself put in motion, then this also must needs be put in motion by another, and that by another again.
The first and more manifest way is the argument from motion.
Therefore it is necessary to arrive at a first mover, put in motion by no other; and this everyone understands to be God.
Therefore it is necessary to arrive at a first mover, put in motion by no other; and this everyone understands to be God.
The second way is from the nature of he efficient cause.
The cause that started everything to be in existence.
Therefore it is necessary to admit a first efficient cause, to which everyone gives the name of God.
The third way is taken from possibility and necessity, and runs thus.
Therefore it is necessary to admit a first efficient cause, to which everyone gives the name of God.
Therefore, if everything is possible not to be, then at one time there could have been nothing in existence.
Now if this were true, even now there would be nothing in existence, because that which does not exist only begins to exist by something already existing.
The third way is taken from possibility and necessity, and runs thus.
Therefore, if everything is possible not to be, then at one time there could have been nothing in existence.
Now if this were true, even now there would be nothing in existence, because that which does not exist only begins to exist by something already existing.
Saying that everything that is in existence can not be in existence therefore must come from something.
Therefore it must need something to bring it into existence.
The existence of some being having of itself its own necessity, and not receiving it from another, but rather causing in others their necessity.
Therefore we cannot but postulate the existence of some being having of itself its own necessity, and not receiving it from another, but rather causing in others their necessity.
This all men speak of as God.
Therefore we cannot but postulate the existence of some being having of itself its own necessity, and not receiving it from another, but rather causing in others their necessity.
This all men speak of as God.
The fourth way is taken from the gradation to be found in things.
the existence of some being having of itself its own necessity, and not receiving it from another, but rather causing in others their necessity.
Now the maximum in any genus is the cause of all in that genus; as fire, which is the maximum heat, is the cause of all hot things.
Fire is the cause of heat but heat is not fire.
Fire is the cause of heat that make the wood from being potentially hot to actually hot.
Now the maximum in any genus is the cause of all in that genus; as fire, which is the maximum heat, is the cause of all hot things.
God who is good is also the cause of all that is good.
Therefore there must also be something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection; and this we call God.
Therefore there must also be something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection; and this we call God.
The fifth way is taken for the governance of the world.
The design of the world is done by intelligence.
Now whatever lacks intelligence cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being endowed with knowledge and intelligence; as the arrow is shot to its mark by the archer.
Now whatever lacks intelligence cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being endowed with knowledge and intelligence; as the arrow is shot to its mark by the archer.
Therefore some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end; and this being we call God.
Now whatever lacks intelligence cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being endowed with knowledge and intelligence; as the arrow is shot to its mark by the archer.
If God is God then we will worship him.
Therefore some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end; and this being we call God.
Worship the victorious God.
Worship is service.
God showed his victory in the Son of God who defeated death and defeated the enemies of the Messiah.
Worship the Lord who knows the plans he has for you.
Nothing catches God by surprise because he set the world in motion.
No matter how the enemies may come against God’s chosen he will protect them.
Let us celebrate the great I am and seek to live to server him.
romans 12
TO WORHIP HIM IS TO SERVE HIM ALL YOUR LIFE.
WORSHP HIM IN BOLDNESS AND BE SHAKEN BUT NOT MOVED.
ACTS 4:29-31
Worship the Lord with pure hearts.
Look to serve the Lord boldly in your life.
Trust the power of God to move mightily in your life.
Give God permission to shake your world in awesome power.
God shows us his great power in the name of Jesus.
God wants us to give him all the glory and he will empower us to do so.
How to be shaken
Seek the presence of God in prayer.
Seek to serve the Lord in boldness.
Pray for the redemptive power of God to be revealed in your life.
Shaken of the room represents God’s presence.
When God is present power is present.
Desperate for God’s presence was shown in their:
Willing to suffer for the gospel sake.
Boldly proclaim God’s word.
Their willing to submit to the Holy Spirit.
God is worthy to be praised and for us to seek him.
