*Jn 15:1-11   *“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

2  Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away (Or /lifts up/); and every /branch/ that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

3  You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

4  Abide in Me, and I in you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

5 “I am the vine, you /are/ the branches.

He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much  fruit; for without Me you can do  nothing.

6 If anyone does not abide in Me,  he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw /them/ into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If you abide in Me, and My words  abide in you,  you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

8  By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

9 “As the Father  loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.

10  If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and  /that/ your joy may be full.

Christ is the Word of God, the only truth, and the only source of true joy.

* Jn 14:6*    6 Jesus said to him, “I am  the way,  the truth, and  the life.

*2    The vinedresser  - *

God the Father is the authority, the boss, the that gives the orders of what is to be done and how it is to be done; He calls all the shots.

*vinedresser  **1092 **γεωργός* [/georgos/ ~/gheh·ore·*gos*~/] n m.

From 1093 and the base of 2041; GK 1177; 19 occurrences; AV translates as “husbandman” 19 times.

*1* a husbandman, tiller of the soil, a vine dresser.

*The word vinedresser comes from two root words that mean;*

*1093 **γῆ* [/ge/ ~/ghay~/] n f.

Contracted from a root word; TDNT 1:677; TDNTA 116; GK 1178; 252 occurrences; AV translates as “earth” 188 times, “land” 42 times, “ground” 18 times, “country” twice, “world” once, and “earthly + 1537 + 3588” once.

*1* arable land.

*2* the ground, the earth as a standing place.

*3* the main land as opposed to the sea or water.

*4** the earth as a whole.

**4a the earth as opposed to the heavens.

**4b the inhabited earth, the abode of men and animals*.

1a that which one undertakes to do, enterprise, undertaking.

*The vinedresser is the one who works the world or takes care of the people to ensure their joy.*

*3                    **He takes away, lifts up & He prunes*   

The Father continually cleans and works with those that bear no fruit and refines those that are bearing fruit that they produce more fruit;

*1* to raise up, elevate, lift up.

1a to raise from the ground, take up: stones.

1b to raise upwards, elevate, lift up: the hand.

1c to draw up: a fish.

*2* to take upon one’s self and carry what has been raised up, to bear.

*3* to bear away what has been raised, carry off.

3a to move from its place.

3b to take off or away what is attached to anything.

*1* *to cleanse, of filth impurity, etc*.

1a *to prune* trees and vines *from useless shoots*.

*He is continually working with us to remove the impurities and worthlessness from our lives and by this means He ensures our joy.*

*4        *3  *You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you*.

You are saved through your faith in Christ; these words are not to save you, they are to make us better Disciples of Christ, bear more fruit, in order to bring glory to God thereby making our joy full.

*5        *4  *Abide in Me, and I in you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. *

 

*Abide in Me *– a proper & active relationship; a plant won’t grow in a bucket of paint

 

*To Abide in Me is to *Not rebel against the truth when it exposes our faults, but to know the way of truth and live by it.

*Job 24:13*13     “There are those who rebel against the light;

They do not know its ways Nor abide in its paths.

*To Abide in Me is to *  be wise by listening to the rebukes of life, love instruction, and get understanding.

*Pr 15:31-3331*     The ear that hears the rebukes of life

Will abide among the wise.

He who disdains instruction despises his own soul,

But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding.

            The fear of the Lord /is/ the instruction of wisdom,

And  before honor /is/ humility.

*To Abide in Me is to *  fear the Lord and live a life of separation

 

*Pr 19:2323*      The fear of the Lord /leads/ to life,

                                    And /he who has it/ will abide in satisfaction;

*To Abide in Me is to * live according to Gods’ Word

 

            *Jn 8:3131* …… “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.



* To Abide in Me is to * do like Jesus did

 

*1 Jn 2:6*  He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

* *

*The only way to have joy is to be fruitful by maintaining a proper and active relationship with Christ.
