30 They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know,
Leaving the region around Caesarea Philippi, Jesus and the disciples began the journey to Jerusalem that would result in His crucifixion several months later.
MacArthur, J., Jr. (Ed.). (1997). The MacArthur Study Bible (electronic ed., p. 1479). Nashville, TN: Word Pub.
31 for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.”
True Kingdom Ministry is having the understanding that there is no substitute for being rooted in the word of God.
Jesus “taught” (His disciples. The Greek tense is imperfect; that is, He continued to teach them, kept right on teaching them. It was a continuous process, pulling one to the side, then another, then two, then four or five, then the whole group. He taught and taught, drilling the fact of His death and resurrection into them.
Jesus seeks privacy in order to continue teaching his disciples about his impending suffering in Jerusalem. While the disciples still do not understand, they will later remember the wordplay, Son of Man … hands of men
By the plan of God the Father, Jesus would be intentionally “delivered into the hands” of Jewish leaders () and Gentiles. The paradox is profound: the murderous intent of Jesus’ opponents succeeds, because God the Father hands him over to achieve the atonement planned through his death
7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Who Killed Jesus?
The Father delivered Christ up to be betrayed.
23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
Christ delivered Himself up to be crucified.
Christ delivered Himself up to be crucified.
To enforce that He was dying as a willing sacrifice and not as a hopeless martyr or as a mistaken man who thought He was the Messiah.

4 who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
eph
14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
ti
16 By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
The religious leaders handed him over to be killed
31 And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again.
The Father and the Son sacrifice to give it I must sacrifice
21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
32 But they did not understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him.
50 But Jesus said to him, “Do not stop him, for the one who is not against you is for you.”
44 “Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.”
45 But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, so that they might not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
True Kingdom ministry is understanding that God’s mercy will hid some things from me
33 And they came to Capernaum. And when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?”
34 But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest.
True Kingdom Ministry understands that Pride and Unity can’t coexist
Pride demeans
Pride pushes others down
True humility means knowing yourself, accepting yourself, being yourself—your best self—and giving of yourself for others.
Pride is critical of others
Pride is always comparing
4 “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith.
2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.
10 Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.
Prov
5 Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished.
18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Humility is a strange thing. The minute you think you’ve got it, you’ve lost it.
Humility is the mother, root, nurse, foundation, and center of all other virtues.
Humility is the mother, root, nurse, foundation, and center of all other virtues.

Zuck, R. B. (1997). The speaker’s quote book: over 4,500 illustrations and quotations for all occasions (p. 201). Grand Rapids, MI: Kregel Publications.
True humility means knowing yourself, accepting yourself, being yourself—your best self—and giving of yourself for others.
35 And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”
35 And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”
Pride
True Kingdom ministry understands to walk in pride is to repel the very thing I’m after
47 But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side
36 And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them,
The unspoiled child is an example of submission and humility. A child knows he is a child and acts like a child, and that is his secret of attracting love and care. The child who tries to impress us by acting like an adult does not get the same attention.
37 “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”
True Kingdom Ministry understands to walk in pride is to reject God
38 John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.”
True Kingdom Ministry understands Pride Creates barriers
39 But Jesus said, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me.
40 For the one who is not against us is for us.
41 For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.
True Kingdom Ministry understands that my reward is always in me putting others first
1 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy,
2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.
3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
Radical Love for other believers so that we don't lead them into sin Before you lead another believer into sin it is better for you to die a horirable death verse 42
42 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.
True Kingdom Ministry is embracing my responsibility not to cause spiritual injury to others
43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire.
43-47 Amputation
True Kingdom Ministry is understanding that in order to maintain my personal purity I may have to preform spiritual amputation
44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell.
46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell,
48 ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’
Ma
49 For everyone will be salted with fire.
50 Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
