Prayer of Illumination: Father, send your Holy Spirit and fill us that our hearts are receptive to your word.

INTRODUCTION
MANY OF US HAVE CELL PHONE THAT PICK UP INVISIBLE SIGNALS OUT OF THE AIR.
THERE IS AN ABANDANCE OF SIGNALS AND FREQUENCIES IN THE AIR THAT WE CAN SEE WITH OUR EYES, BUT ALSO GIVE RADIOS, TV wants needed to see visible.
Matthews Gospel is taking what generations been talked about to show that it happened for the world to see!
PAUL sees the seed of mature spiritual life ready to sprout ......
Who: The gospel according to Luke is the third account of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was originally the first scroll of a two-volume work (the second scroll being Acts).
These volumes are one quarter of the New Testament.
The Holy Spirit led Paul’s physician friend, Luke, to author the Third Gospel.
Luke is the only gentile author of NT.
They are both written to “most excellent Theophilus” or translated “beloved of God.” Someone who is a believer of high social status.
The original readers are likely Gentiles as Luke explains Jewish customs.
What: The Gospel of Luke stress the blessing of salvation of God which Jesus Christ brings in response to faith.
Salvation brings healing from disease, liberation from demonic control, restoration of life from death, rescue from disaster, and forgiveness of sins.
When: Luke joined Paul on his second missionary journey in Troas and accompanied him to Philippi (Acts 16:10).
The Gospel of Luke was written around (AD 58-62)
Where: From Macedonia
Why: Matthew 2 narrates the political threat that Jesus’ birth creates for Herod and the ensuing need for Jesus’ family to flee the country.
After time in Egypt, they return, settling in Nazareth.
Themes of God’s protection and direction of Jesus’ family through dreams and angelic guidance are prominent, continuing the scene from 1:18–25, where God uses a dream to guide Joseph’s decision making.
As he has already done at 1:22–23, Matthew uses fulfillment quotations to connect Jesus’ story to the Old Testament story of Israel (2:5–6, 15, 17–18, 23).
In addition, the theme of Gentile inclusion reappears through the characters of the non-Jewish magi, who seek Jesus and worship him as king.

I. THE UNEXPECTED SEEK TO WORSHIP HIM(vv.
1-2)
A. ________ When God gives you a sign the season has changed it is time to walk in the new season.
Sometimes we can be waiting on others but God has already moved.
GOD’s WILL WILL BE DONE AND YOUR WAITING WILL NOT BE IN VAIN.
look at our text, everything seem to be normal day in Bethlehem Judah, but look what happened...
Bethlehem Judah gives birth to the new born King, not Bethlehem Galilee and He is recognized by wise men from the far east and His star from the heights of the heavens.
This Herod is Herod the Great, and he is correctly called “the king” (the title was sometimes accorded the tetrarch, but he was not a king; this Herod was).
He was not a Jew, his father being an Idumean and his mother an Arabian, but the Romans made him King of Judea in 40 B.C.
He is generally thought to have died in 4 B.C. (there is some dispute about this).5
He was an unscrupulous tyrant, but his achievements were such that he merited the epithet “the Great.”
He was a great builder and was responsible for the erection of the temple in Jerusalem, the rebuilding of Samaria (which he called Sebaste in honor of the emperor), and other significant works.
And, in the words of Barclay, “He was the only ruler of Palestine who ever succeeded in keeping the peace and in bringing order into disorder.
Who are these wise men (Magi)?
The number of them is not given (3 or any other number not given nor where they are from Biblically) But the word Magi is used in the book of Daniel to describe Daniel and other servant to the king.
B. Where is Jesus in your life?
He has already come but we can get so caught up in worldly affairs, ambitions and material possessions that we forget the event that happen.
The Star may be a reference from Numbers 24:17.
Herod the Great was ruthless, he killed his own children to protect his throne, he had nine or more wives and was know for treachery and lust.
He was a Edomite, having a natural hatred for the Jews.
(HE DIDN’T KNOW GOD’S WORD!
The Wise men were hearers and doers of God’s word and new the season has changed.
SO THEY CAME TO THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS who is worth of worship from the beginning.
C. IT HAPPENED IN BETHLEHEM JUDAH, NOT JERUSALEM THE CAPITAL CITY! JESUS WAS NOT BORN _________ AMONG THE SMALLEST AND INSIGNIFICANT CLANS OF JUDAH.
ARE YOU SO BUSY IN THOUGHT AND ACTIVITY THAT JESUS IS INSIGNIFICANT TO YOUR LIFE?

SOME WILL TALK ABOUT WORSHIPPING HIM (vv.
3-8)
A. ______ When our thrones and place of power are challenged by the LORD we worry and are troubled in our decisions.
Why, because we don’t really want to bow down; some people didn’t want Jesus like he did.
They want his they way they want not according to the Scriptures.

THE JOY AND PROTECTION OF WORSHIPPING HIM (vv.
9-12)

Recapitulation: We are to look for new expectation, look for evidence of new creation, and look for new dedication to God for new hope to be birthed in us.

Final Application
Matthew informs us that those we may consider to be insignificant, unworthy of any serious consideration, can turn out to be the very agents God chooses to lead us to him.
