Sometimes it's okay to do what on the surface looks like something that is wrong. We know this instinctively because sometimes the spirit of the law and the letter of the law don't match and in these cases the spirit of the law is what we need to look at. The Pharisees tried to catch Jesus by getting him to break the letter of the law. But they were purposely undermining the spirit of the law to do this (and actually they were also trying to break the letter of the law at the same time). But Jesus, ever the master of the situation, did what was right and pursued his mission to save and restore life even when he knew this would lead to persecution. But that's what Jesus is like - that's how much he cares about his mission and about us! So, as his followers, let's be prepared to put that mission above our own reputation and safety too - so get out there and save some lives!
