Attacked with false accusations.

Intro: Have you ever been falsely accused?
Jesus faced continual assaults, the devil using mostly the religious leaders. Jesus pressed on through these accusations. We must learn to do the same.
What type of false accusations can we go through. There may be times when tries to do the right thing (good deed) but your motives have been misrepresented, and you are unnecessary accused or attacked.
As we continue our study in Mark, these attacks were relentless against Jesus. While some were amazed about Jesus, His power to heal, His power over demons, the power in His preaching.
But the scribes (also referred to as lawyers, referred as Rabbi or teachers of the law. They a part of the Pharisees)
They looked for any opportunity to accuse Jesus. They did so to try and minimize His influence.
They did so to try and tarnish His credibility. Their accusation had no credible evidence. But they continued their attacks.
Like Jesus, those who follow Him will eventually come under attack. It could be something as simple as praying for your meal at a restaurant.
False accusations are often unprovoked and unwarranted, but we have to endue them. The enemy (devil) will do everything he can to discourage us, and hinder us from doing Gods work.

I. The Accusation of the Scribes. VS 22

Mark 3:22 KJV 1900
22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
Mark 3:22 NASB95
22 The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.”
The scribes followed Jesus, but they were not followers of Jesus. They followed him, watching Him, waiting Him to do something they could bring against Him.
Mark3:21
Mark 3:21 NASB95
21 When His own people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, “He has lost His senses.”
If some of His own people thought this about Him, the scribes saw this as an open opportunity to go after accuse Him.
a. They accuse Him of being possessed with Beelzebul” and by the prince of devils he cast out devils. Beelzebub means “Lord of flies” .
b. They refused to accept that He was God, and that He cast to demons by the power of God. Jesus being God, Jesus being the Messiah was a reality was more then they willing to face.
c. It meant that God invaded their lives and everything must change. The establishment that they were the leaders of would have to change. They themselves would have to change.
d. I believe that is one of the problems we face today in our county. If people (mostly leaders in our country) would accept the fact the God is real, and His word is real, things would have to change.
e. For the scribes (Pharisees too) could not explain away the miracles, the evidence was there. The only explanation was, He was in with satanic powers. No greater insult then to call what Jesus was doing to be from the devil.
f. This shows the wickedness of their hearts.
e. Church today is no longer viewed in a positive manner by most of Americas today. The devil has been hard at work to try and minimize the influence of the church today. Years of lies and deception being spread by the enemy.
f. But there are things that (sex abuse) that have gone on in the church, that have caused churches to lose influence. But, it is the devil who puts those people in the church.

The Admonition of Jesus. VS 23-30

Mark 3:23 KJV 1900
23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
Mark 3:23 NASB95
23 And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?
What Jesus does here in something we should all learn from. He did not respond with His emotions. He did not respond with anger, sarcasm, or even scorn.
a. He challenged their accusations with common sense and reason.
b. These men (scribes) were well educated men. They were educated in the law. Influential men, educated men, some of them were smart men. What they had said to Jesus did come from their intellects but from the darkened hearts. Their unbelief was deliberate.
c. All the proof they needed to Jesus was the Messiah was right before an written in scriptures.
d. What they had was hatred and hostility. This shows the tactics of the enemy. This is what we are facing today.
2. Jesus ask them a question. How can Satan cast out Satan? They accused Him, and He asked them to prove it. Then in a parable He demonstrates foolishness of their accusations.
Mark 3:24–26 KJV 1900
24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mark 3:24 KJV 1900
24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
Mark 3:24-
Mark 3:24–26 NASB95
24 “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 “If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 “If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!
Mark 3:24 NASB95
24 “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
Jesus gives examples of the secular world, vs 24. The social world, vs 25. The spiritual world, vs26.
VS 24a. Nations divided cannot stand. Our own country and the Civil War. Still to this day, there are problems.
VS 25 b. Homes that are divided cannot stand. We see so much of this today.
VS 26 c. Satan once known as Lucifer, one of Gods angels. Powerful, gifted. Rebelled against God. 1/3 of the angel went with Him. He has organized them to help him rule over and conquer the earth. We know in the end, Jesus wins. But until then, they work together, they are not divided. This is why there is so much evil in this world today.
Mark 3:27 KJV 1900
27 No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
Mark 3:
The strong man here is the devil. The goods are the souls he has in his power, in his house.
a. The people had witnessed what Jesus had done (casting out demons) a man bound by the power of satan. Jesus spoke the word and released the man.
b. Satan has power, but he is no match for Jesus. Jesus is able to free anyone from the grip of Satan, setting those free who are bound in sin.
Mark 3:27 NASB95
27 “But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.
Mark 3:28 KJV 1900
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
The Gospel of Mark: The Suffering Servant §III.3 Opposition and Jesus’ True Family

Continuing His use of parables, He said that it was like a home invasion. “No one is able,” He pointed out, “having entered the strong one’s house, to rob his possessions unless he first binds the strong one.” A well-armed man, guarding his house and possessions, will not simply allow a robber to come in and plunder him to his heart’s content! Rather, he will violently and effectively resist such robbery. If a thief wants to rob the house of a strong man, he must first tie up the strong man—only then will he be able to rob his house. It was the same here with Satan. Satan was strong and capable of keeping his demon-possessed prey captive and secure. Christ was only able to plunder Satan of his prey and liberate those poor demon-possessed souls because He first overpowered Satan with His divine messianic authority. His exorcisms proved that Satan was being overcome.

Mark 3:28 NASB95
28 “Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;
Mark 3:
Mark 3:
These men were guilty of blaspheme against Jesus. They spoke evil of the Son of God., accusing Him of working through the power of Satan. Those were serious of sins. But their was still hope.
a. They could receive forgiveness if they would repent of their sins and believe if Jesus. All sins will be forgiven.
Mark 3:29 KJV 1900
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
Mark 3:
Mark 3:29 NASB95
29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—
The Unpardonable sin: Here Jesus revealed a sin so serious that is was beyond forgiveness
Today Jesus still gives everyone the opportunity to receive forgiveness of their sins.
a. But anyone who is under conviction , and refuses forgiveness and denies Jesus and God. I believe He gives more then one opportunity.
b. This is someone who has rejected forgiveness, someone who Jesus has been knocking of the door of their hearts, but they refuse to open and let Him, there will come a times where the knock will stop.
c. Someone who dies with receiving Jesus forgiveness has committed this sin.
Mark 3:30 KJV 1900
30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
