Intro: Have you ever been falsely accused?
Jesus faced continual assaults, the devil using mostly the religious leaders.
Jesus pressed on through these accusations.
We must learn to do the same.
What type of false accusations can we go through.
There may be times when tries to do the right thing (good deed) but your motives have been misrepresented, and you are unnecessary accused or attacked.
As we continue our study in Mark, these attacks were relentless against Jesus.
While some were amazed about Jesus, His power to heal, His power over demons, the power in His preaching.
But the scribes (also referred to as lawyers, referred as Rabbi or teachers of the law.
They a part of the Pharisees)
They looked for any opportunity to accuse Jesus.
They did so to try and minimize His influence.
They did so to try and tarnish His credibility.
Their accusation had no credible evidence.
But they continued their attacks.
Like Jesus, those who follow Him will eventually come under attack.
It could be something as simple as praying for your meal at a restaurant.
False accusations are often unprovoked and unwarranted, but we have to endue them.
The enemy (devil) will do everything he can to discourage us, and hinder us from doing Gods work.
I.
The Accusation of the Scribes.
VS 22
The scribes followed Jesus, but they were not followers of Jesus.
They followed him, watching Him, waiting Him to do something they could bring against Him.
Mark3:21
If some of His own people thought this about Him, the scribes saw this as an open opportunity to go after accuse Him.
a.
They accuse Him of being possessed with Beelzebul” and by the prince of devils he cast out devils.
Beelzebub means “Lord of flies” .
b.
They refused to accept that He was God, and that He cast to demons by the power of God.
Jesus being God, Jesus being the Messiah was a reality was more then they willing to face.
c.
It meant that God invaded their lives and everything must change.
The establishment that they were the leaders of would have to change.
They themselves would have to change.
d.
I believe that is one of the problems we face today in our county.
If people (mostly leaders in our country) would accept the fact the God is real, and His word is real, things would have to change.
e.
For the scribes (Pharisees too) could not explain away the miracles, the evidence was there.
The only explanation was, He was in with satanic powers.
No greater insult then to call what Jesus was doing to be from the devil.

This shows the wickedness of their hearts.
e. Church today is no longer viewed in a positive manner by most of Americas today.
The devil has been hard at work to try and minimize the influence of the church today.
Years of lies and deception being spread by the enemy.

But there are things that (sex abuse) that have gone on in the church, that have caused churches to lose influence.
But, it is the devil who puts those people in the church.
The Admonition of Jesus.
VS 23-30
What Jesus does here in something we should all learn from.
He did not respond with His emotions.
He did not respond with anger, sarcasm, or even scorn.
a.
He challenged their accusations with common sense and reason.
b.
These men (scribes) were well educated men.
They were educated in the law.
Influential men, educated men, some of them were smart men.
What they had said to Jesus did come from their intellects but from the darkened hearts.
Their unbelief was deliberate.
c.
All the proof they needed to Jesus was the Messiah was right before an written in scriptures.
d.
What they had was hatred and hostility.
This shows the tactics of the enemy.
This is what we are facing today.
2. Jesus ask them a question.
How can Satan cast out Satan?
They accused Him, and He asked them to prove it.
Then in a parable He demonstrates foolishness of their accusations.
Mark 3:24-
Jesus gives examples of the secular world, vs 24.
The social world, vs 25.
The spiritual world, vs26.
VS 24a.
Nations divided cannot stand.
Our own country and the Civil War.
Still to this day, there are problems.
VS 25 b.
Homes that are divided cannot stand.
We see so much of this today.
VS 26 c.
Satan once known as Lucifer, one of Gods angels.
Powerful, gifted.
Rebelled against God.
1/3 of the angel went with Him.
He has organized them to help him rule over and conquer the earth.
We know in the end, Jesus wins.
But until then, they work together, they are not divided.
This is why there is so much evil in this world today.
Mark 3:
The strong man here is the devil.
The goods are the souls he has in his power, in his house.
a.
The people had witnessed what Jesus had done (casting out demons) a man bound by the power of satan.
