Come, Let us all go to Gilgal to renew the Kingdom

1 Samuel 11:12–14 NLT
Then the people exclaimed to Samuel, “Now where are those men who said, ‘Why should Saul rule over us?’ Bring them here, and we will kill them!” But Saul replied, “No one will be executed today, for today the Lord has rescued Israel!” Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, let us all go to Gilgal to renew the kingdom.”
:
We looked at parts of this passage when I was last with you. We examined certain truth that came alive as we examined the text. When we last looked at this passage, Saul was anointed King. We saw the process of the how God informed the people of His choice in chapter 10 verses 20 and 21. Remember we observed how God made public what he informed Saul of in private. We found that when the people were told Saul was King, the prophet already anointed him King. The prophet anointed Saul King days after God told the prophet of His choice for King.
God does not operate according to our knowledge or our timetable. As a matter of fact, he does not operate with us, according to what we think is going. He does not wait for us to figure that we should be a thing before he appoints us to that thing. As a matter, as we looked at the pericope of Saul getting anointed to be King, nowhere did we find God having a meeting with Saul to check his availability to rule Israel. We should notice that God did not ask him to run for office. God did not ask Saul permission to include him for political office.
By the way, You do know that the office of King is a political office. This is going to scare somebody, but God is involved in politics! What scripture do you hold to when you convinced yourself that as a saint of God, you should have nothing to do with POLITICS! Just checking.
Do you understand that God has made some decisions about what you are going to do and he did not ask your permission. He has already informed the prophet. When the prophet comes to you to speak about it, you were concerned with your father’s donkeys. Let me get off that before I scare somebody. Do you know that God says you are qualified to do something that have never entertained. Stop running, saith the LORD. Stop convincing yourself that the prophet does not understand. God has ALREADY spoken!
I know it’s a scary issue, as a matter of fact Saul was scared too.
1 Samuel 10:22 NLT
So they asked the Lord, “Where is he?” And the Lord replied, “He is hiding among the baggage.”
1 Sam
Some of you are Hiding, saith God! You are wasting your time if you think God doesn’t see you. Israel may not know where you are but God is about to disclose your hiding place!
What Baggage are you hiding in?
I’m not smart enough. I’m not qualified. I’m divorce. I have failed before. I’m not rich enough. I have never run a company before. I’m sick. Nobody has ever had confidence in me before. But, I have been in jail. Beloved, it’s all baggage! Do you really think that BAGGAGE is going to hide you from your purpose?
Come out of that Baggage!
God will not allow your baggage to define you. As a matter of fact, God does not even call it your baggage. You are the only one, trying to take ownership of that baggage. So what no one in your family has ever succeeded doing this. God says this new chapter in your life BELONGS to you.
There is NO ONE LIKE YOU in all of ISRAEL!
1 Sam 10
1 Samuel 10:24 NLT
Then Samuel said to all the people, “This is the man the Lord has chosen as your king. No one in all Israel is like him!” And all the people shouted, “Long live the king!”
1 Samuel 10:26 NLT
When Saul returned to his home at Gibeah, a group of men whose hearts God had touched went with him.
1 Sam 10:
Look at the difference between verse 26 and verse 27.
Saul returned to his home at Gibeah, a group of men whose heart God has touched went with him.
1 Sam 10:2
1 Samuel 10:27 KJV 1900
But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.
1 Sam 10
1 Samuel 10:27 NLT
But there were some scoundrels who complained, “How can this man save us?” And they scorned him and refused to bring him gifts. But Saul ignored them. [Nahash, king of the Ammonites, had been grievously oppressing the people of Gad and Reuben who lived east of the Jordan River. He gouged out the right eye of each of the Israelites living there, and he didn’t allow anyone to come and rescue them. In fact, of all the Israelites east of the Jordan, there wasn’t a single one whose right eye Nahash had not gouged out. But there were 7,000 men who had escaped from the Ammonites, and they had settled in Jabesh-gilead.]
1 Samuel 10:27 NRSV
But some worthless fellows said, “How can this man save us?” They despised him and brought him no present. But he held his peace. Now Nahash, king of the Ammonites, had been grievously oppressing the Gadites and the Reubenites. He would gouge out the right eye of each of them and would not grant Israel a deliverer. No one was left of the Israelites across the Jordan whose right eye Nahash, king of the Ammonites, had not gouged out. But there were seven thousand men who had escaped from the Ammonites and had entered Jabesh-gilead.
Worthless people criticize what God does in you. They are the ones who are questioning you ability. Not the ones whom God touch their heart, but the worthless people. Some have worthless people in your circle. Some of them......... How can you do this? I can’t even do this. I have never witness greatness in you, so there is no way you can.............. You can’t even keep a man, how are you going to.............. Ever woman you ever had has left you in under a year, how can you be a husband and .................... Worthless people. And as we saw before, Saul ignored worthless people. Can you ignore worthless people? Some of you respect worthless people too much.
In chapter 11, Nahash, the Ammonite King went up to siege Jabesh-Gilead. The punks of Jabesh I mean the men of Jabesh, said to Nahash, “Make a treaty with us and we will let you build a wall that you said Mexico........... I’m sorry, “make a treaty with us and we will serve you”.
What is interesting to me is that when men do not do right, they are willing to be someone’s slave. It is one thing to serve God, but for a man to willing become another man’s slave, is horrible. This is detestable! Even more despicable than these men’s offer is the answer.
1 Samuel 11:2 NLT
“All right,” Nahash said, “but only on one condition. I will gouge out the right eye of every one of you as a disgrace to all Israel!”
The only way this King will tolerate you is if he controls how you look. As a black this speaks volumes.
This King is saying I will tolerate you, only if I am comfortable with the way you look. And notice, the way you must look for me to be comfortable, I don’t require my own men to look like you.
I am only comfortable black man when you are wearing a dress at important events. I am only comfortable with an effeminate man. Actaul men from Israel cannot look like us. That we will not tolerate. I am comfortable with your pants sagging. I need you to look out here the way you look when I lock you up. I need you to look like an inmate, then I will be comfortable with you. I am comfortable with you entertaining me and having a little money, but by no mean should have a business of your own, that, black man, is a threat and I will make a treaty with you deciding for yourself. I am comfortable with you twerking but not as a lawyer, or doctor, or wife to a black man that you honor and respect that we cannot have. This is why we fund the movies we fund and the sports we allow you to play in but don’t take a knee. We can tolerate you playing football but why do you need to own a team, that we are not going to let happen.
And the problem is Beloved, We are still trying to make treaties with Nahash!!!!
We are Still Trying to Make Treaties with Nahash!
These punks, I mean men, said give us seven days to send messengers through out Israel, if no one saves us, we will agree to your terms. And Trump, I mean Nahash agreed.
In verse 5 Saul hears about this and this is where we left off last time.
1 Samuel 11:5 NLT
Saul had been plowing a field with his oxen, and when he returned to town, he asked, “What’s the matter? Why is everyone crying?” So they told him about the message from Jabesh.
1 Samuel 11:6 NLT
Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he became very angry.
This is interesting. You don’t people speak on this too often. Consider this. the Spirit of the GOD came powerfully upon Saul and he became angry. We are not taught this often. Now I am going to really scare some of you. God spirit can be upon you, and you be angry. Somehow, we have been inculcated with this hermeneutic that as Black people, God does not want you to be angry. White Christian can be angry and it makes sense when they are, but you black folk, you are not supposed to get angry. What would Jesus do? And many of you fall for that foolishness. Saul got angry. Remember the bible does say:
Ephesians 4:26 KJV 1900
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Look at verse 7 with me:
1 Samuel 11:7 NLT
He took two oxen and cut them into pieces and sent the messengers to carry them throughout Israel with this message: “This is what will happen to the oxen of anyone who refuses to follow Saul and Samuel into battle!” And the Lord made the people afraid of Saul’s anger, and all of them came out together as one.
Look at Saul grew his army for God. Look at IHP will grow the Kingdom for God. Let’s look at the text:
Saul took two oxen, cut them into pieces and sent messengers: he gave the cut pieces with the messengers and they took the message to all of Israel.
Who took the message?
Did the King take the message? NO! He grew is army because the messengers were effective. What did they do, they should Israel cut up oxen and relayed the message. The Pastor/ King spoke to the messengers and the people went out gave the message. We have no proof from the text that the messengers held a revival. No proof that they laid hands on anyone. They did need to sing. No one got dress up, they just shared the message.
This is how we are going to grow IHP. I am not chopping any oxen!!! Relax!! But here is the paradigm. I preach to you, you invite the people with the evidence of your life submitted to Jesus, and the church will grow. The Pastor does not grow it, you do.
1 Samuel 11:8 NLT
When Saul mobilized them at Bezek, he found that there were 300,000 men from Israel and 30,000 men from Judah.
1 Sam 11:8
This is an awesome text because, it share the important number. I submit to you that the important number is not the 300,000 people but the 30,000 men of Judah. Before you go into war, know how many praiser you have in the fight. How many people are willing to turn their plate down and call out your name. How many will show up at prayer and call on the LORD. How many can you trust to obey God and get in the fight with you? thats the important number. It’s nice to have your 300,000 but the praiser are leaders! The praisers can change things.
Then the bible says, the next morning. There is something about the morning! The next morning. The bible says that Saul launched a “surprise attack”. Stop telling people what you’re going to do. Attack and don’t announce it. The bible says he slaughtered them.

The word Slaughter means: to be struck, to be destroyed, to Kill.
You are too nice for warfare. If you want this victory, you have got to be willing to slaughter the enemy. Don’t you let that spirit rise up in your house. Slaughter it, kill it, Destroy it. And do it, all morning if you have too. What are you quitting for? Your problem is you are too cute. I need some praisers. Praisers are not afraid to do what God says. Don’t stop till no two are left together. Meaning, don’t leave anyone with a friend to cry with. Don’t stop till they are helpless. Worship till that issue is dead. Fight until morning is over. Don’t you quit. Don’t leave anything on the table. Fight till they are slaughtered!!!!!
1 Samuel 11:14 NLT
Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, let us all go to Gilgal to renew the kingdom.”
After they slaughtered the people, hear the Word of the LORD “Come, let us all go to Gilgal to renew the Kingdom”.
Gilgal: rolling.
(1.) From the solemn transaction of the reading of the law in the valley of Shechem between Ebal and Gerizim the Israelites moved forward to Gilgal, and there made a permanent camp (; ). It was “beside the oaks of Moreh,” near which Abraham erected his first altar (, ). This was one of the three towns to which Samuel resorted for the administration of justice (), and here also he offered sacrifices when the ark was no longer in the tabernacle at Shiloh (; ). To this place, as to a central sanctuary, all Israel gathered to renew their allegiance to Saul (11:14). At a later period it became the scene of idolatrous worship (; ). It has been identified with the ruins of Jiljilieh, about 5 miles south-west of Shiloh and about the same distance from Bethel.
(2.) The place in “the plains of Jericho,” “in the east border of Jericho,” where the Israelites first encamped after crossing the Jordan (, ). Here they kept their first Passover in the land of Canaan (5:10) and renewed the rite of circumcision, and so “rolled away the reproach” of their Egyptian slavery. Here the twelve memorial stones, taken from the bed of the Jordan, were set up; and here also the tabernacle remained till it was removed to Shiloh (18:1). It has been identified with Tell Jiljulieh, about 5 miles from Jordan.
Gilgal, is that place that you were when God delivered you out of something you could not get out of. It speaks to, when You are going to do something important, something solemn, Go to that place where you realized you were delivered!

Here they restored the Kingdom. They Repaired the Kingdom. What need to be repaired in the Kingdom?
