Quote 1
God wants a relationship with us, so much so that He sent Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be reconciled to Him.
We have nothing to do with our salvation other than believing, but we do have something to do with our relationship with Him.
When God becomes our father through salvation we can relate to Him in the same ways some relate to their Earthly fathers.
We can have a great relationship, a poor relationship, or a non-existent relationship.
Unlike earthly fathers God doesn't contribute to the things that would cause a relationship to be poor.
It is all on us.
Through Jesus Christ you can have as close a relationship to God as you want.
