Moab in the Bible
Though few narratives portray Moabites as primary characters, Moab itself is a common setting. describes the origins of Moab, stating that when Lot became intoxicated, his daughters seduced him. Each of them conceived a child, from which two Transjordanian states were born: Moab and Ammon.
The plains of Moab provide the setting for much of the material from :
• The kings Sihon and Og were defeated in Moab.

The remainder of the Deuteronomistic History contains only two extended narratives relating to Israelite—Moabite relations. recounts the oppression of the Israelites under Eglon, king of Moab, and depicts the tension between these two entities at that time. This tension may have carried over from their interactions on the east side of the Jordan River prior to the Israelites’ entry into Canaan. describes the international relations between Judah, Israel, Edom, and Moab in the ninth century bc.
Other mentions of Moabites that occur throughout the Old Testament include:
• David entrusted his parents to the king of Moab while he dealt with Saul’s hostility ().
• Solomon took wives from Moab and implemented practices involving their god, Chemosh, which cost him his kingdom (, , ).
• The first chapter of Ruth took place in Moab, and one of the primary messages of the book is that the genealogical line of King David is through Ruth the Moabitess.
• The poetic and prophetic genres treat Moab as an enemy along with other neighboring states (e.g., ; ; ).

Example, If someone is hungry please dont wait to find the Pastor, if the heater goes out the Pastor should not have to call a business meeting. If someone is sick,Yes let the church know but you go and visit and pray with that person.

Decisiveness must be based on a thorough knowledge of the word of God so our decisions will be based on Truth
Naomi didn't make it easy or welcoming, but she wanted Ruth to go back to her people and her god.

Ruth stood between a rock and a hard place. Would she choose her own people the Moabites and their god Chemosh with whom she was no doubt familiar, or would she cast her lot with her mother-in-law and her alien kinsmen, and their God Yahweh, whom she knew only through the grid of Naomi’s imperfect faith?

She uses the example of Orpah as a lever to induce Ruth to follow suit. She does not speak of Orpah as having returned home, or to her own country, but to her people and her gods (AV, RSV) (or perhaps her god [RV]; it is possible to take ’ĕlohîm as either singular or plural, and Chemosh was the god of the Moabites, Num. 21:29; 1 Kgs 11:7). Her people means ‘her nation’, not her family as the English expression might perhaps indicate. The reference to the gods is sometimes held to point to a belief that a god and a certain piece of territory were closely connected, so that the god can be worshipped only on the soil of his own country

Ruth entered the church and was made an Israelite, and [she] deserved to be counted among God’s greatest servants; chosen on account of the kinship of her soul, not of her body. We should emulate her because, just as she deserved this prerogative because of her behavior, [we] may be counted among the favored elect in the church of the Lord. Continuing in our Father’s house, we might, through her example, say to him who, like Paul or any other bishop, [who] calls us to worship God, your people are my people, and your God my God.

Determination in following Jesus requires action, commitment, sacrifice and fortitude. One must exhibit the determination to follow Jesus despite what one’s current relationship status is or what one thinks it will be.
When individuals know without a doubt that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life as it relates to all aspects of their lives including every relationship, the sacrifice might be a challenge but obedience in following God’s call should supersede emotions, reasoning and position.

to buy back property that the family had sold;
to provide an heir for a deceased bother by marrying that brother’s wife and producing a child with her..
To buy back a family member who had been sold into slavery due to poverty
to avenge a relative who had been murdered.

Over 2000 years ago Jesus came down through 42 generations and lived here for 33 1/2 yrs. Jesus was down for his God when He had to carry that rugged cross up Calvary’s Hill. Jesus was down for his God when he voluntarily laid down his life to die for us by the death on the Cross.
Jesus was down for his God when he said dont lift me if you do ill draw all men unto me. They lifted him up and he when reached down and got man by the hand and reached up and got God and said its Finished. He locked his head in his shoulders, gave up the ghost , and died.
He walked tall while being buried in a borrowed tomb, but early Sunday morning He rose with all power in hands claiming victory over SIN, Satan, and over Death.
