Down for My G(GoD)
Ruth 1:15–18 NKJV
15 And she said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.” 16 But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. 17 Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me.” 18 When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped speaking to her.
Ruth 1
Moab in the Bible
Though few narratives portray Moabites as primary characters, Moab itself is a common setting. describes the origins of Moab, stating that when Lot became intoxicated, his daughters seduced him. Each of them conceived a child, from which two Transjordanian states were born: Moab and Ammon.
The plains of Moab provide the setting for much of the material from :
• The kings Sihon and Og were defeated in Moab.
• Balaam attempted to curse the Israelites upon the order of Balak, king of Moab (; ; see Sailhamer, The Pentateuch as Narrative and The Meaning of the Pentateuch).
• Moses reviewed the law and shifted leadership from himself to Joshua on the plains of Moab.
The remainder of the Deuteronomistic History contains only two extended narratives relating to Israelite—Moabite relations. recounts the oppression of the Israelites under Eglon, king of Moab, and depicts the tension between these two entities at that time. This tension may have carried over from their interactions on the east side of the Jordan River prior to the Israelites’ entry into Canaan. describes the international relations between Judah, Israel, Edom, and Moab in the ninth century bc.
Other mentions of Moabites that occur throughout the Old Testament include:
• David entrusted his parents to the king of Moab while he dealt with Saul’s hostility ().
• Solomon took wives from Moab and implemented practices involving their god, Chemosh, which cost him his kingdom (, , ).
• The first chapter of Ruth took place in Moab, and one of the primary messages of the book is that the genealogical line of King David is through Ruth the Moabitess.
• The poetic and prophetic genres treat Moab as an enemy along with other neighboring states (e.g., ; ; ).

Ruth 1:15 NKJV
15 And she said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.”

I. The Church/Believers need some Decisiveness.

the ability to make decisions quickly and effectively.
Ruth show and expressed some Decisiveness.
As Believers we need to show Decisiveness with the sick, homeless, finances, church business
Example, If someone is hungry please dont wait to find the Pastor, if the heater goes out the Pastor should not have to call a business meeting. If someone is sick,Yes let the church know but you go and visit and pray with that person.
1 Kings 18:21 NKJV
21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
Joshua 24:15 NKJV
15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Matthew 6:24 NKJV
24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew
We must put God before Family,Friends, Job, education, money, and possessions.
Decisiveness must be based on a thorough knowledge of the word of God so our decisions will be based on Truth
Naomi didn't make it easy or welcoming, but she wanted Ruth to go back to her people and her god.
The New American Commentary: Judges, Ruth (3) The Third Interchange (1:15–18)

Ruth stood between a rock and a hard place. Would she choose her own people the Moabites and their god Chemosh with whom she was no doubt familiar, or would she cast her lot with her mother-in-law and her alien kinsmen, and their God Yahweh, whom she knew only through the grid of Naomi’s imperfect faith?

Ruth has to be saying,
Judges and Ruth: An Introduction and Commentary a. Ruth’s Steadfastness (1:6–18)

She uses the example of Orpah as a lever to induce Ruth to follow suit. She does not speak of Orpah as having returned home, or to her own country, but to her people and her gods (AV, RSV) (or perhaps her god [RV]; it is possible to take ’ĕlohîm as either singular or plural, and Chemosh was the god of the Moabites, Num. 21:29; 1 Kgs 11:7). Her people means ‘her nation’, not her family as the English expression might perhaps indicate. The reference to the gods is sometimes held to point to a belief that a god and a certain piece of territory were closely connected, so that the god can be worshipped only on the soil of his own country

‘I will come with you, although I know it means a change of god(Chemosh) (keymosh) for me.’

Decisive in our affirmation of faith and commitment is key to this Christian Walk.
Decisiveness is focusing on our destination.
Decide to never stop until the end.

Ruth 1:16 NKJV
16 But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.

Be Resolute, Possessing some determination
James 1:12 NKJV
12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
2 Chronicles 20:17 NKJV
17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
2 Chronicles
2 Corinthians 12:10 NKJV
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Now let us look at Ruth, for she is a type of the church. First she is a type because she is a stranger from the Gentile people who renounced her native land and all things belonging to it.

Text Verse
“Wherever you go, I shall go; your people shall be my people; and your God shall be my God. Whichever land receives you as you die, there I too shall die.” This voice without doubt shows that she is a type of the church.
Franke, J. R. (Ed.). (2005). Old Testament IV: Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1–2 Samuel (p. 183). Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press.Text Verse
For the church was called to God from the Gentiles in just this way: leaving her native land (which is idolatry) and giving up all earthly associations, she confessed that he in whom the saints believed is the Lord God; and that she herself will go where the flesh of Christ ascended after his passion; and that on account of his name she would suffer in this world unto death; and that she will unite with the community of the saints, that is, the patriarchs and the prophets.
This company, by virtue of which she [Ruth] might be joined to the longed-for saints from the lineage of Abraham, Moses revealed to us in the canticle, saying, “Rejoice, you nations, with his people, (that is, people of the Gentiles), pour forth what you believe; exult with those who were first chosen for eternal joy.” On Ruth.

Ruth 1:17 NKJV
17 Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me.”
Ruth entered the church and was made an Israelite, and [she] deserved to be counted among God’s greatest servants; chosen on account of the kinship of her soul, not of her body. We should emulate her because, just as she deserved this prerogative because of her behavior, [we] may be counted among the favored elect in the church of the Lord. Continuing in our Father’s house, we might, through her example, say to him who, like Paul or any other bishop, [who] calls us to worship God, your people are my people, and your God my God.
Franke, J. R. (Ed.). (2005). Old Testament IV: Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1–2 Samuel (p. 184). Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press.
Determination in following Jesus requires action, commitment, sacrifice and fortitude. One must exhibit the determination to follow Jesus despite what one’s current relationship status is or what one thinks it will be.
When individuals know without a doubt that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life as it relates to all aspects of their lives including every relationship, the sacrifice might be a challenge but obedience in following God’s call should supersede emotions, reasoning and position.

Make a Vow, Consecrate, dedicated.

Ruth 2:10–12 NKJV
10 So she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?” 11 And Boaz answered and said to her, “It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before. 12 The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”
Ruth 2:10–13 NKJV

Boaz married Ruth on account of the merits of her faith, because she scorned her own people and land and nation and chose Israel, and because she did not despise her mother-in-law, a widow like herself, and an exile; but she was led by desire to her [Naomi’s] people rather than to her [Ruth’s] own. She rejected the god of her native land and chose the living God, saying to her mother-in-law, “Do not oppose me.
Ruth 3:12 NKJV
12 Now it is true that I am a close relative; however, there is a relative closer than I.
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Over 2000 years ago Jesus came down through 42 generations and lived here for 33 1/2 yrs. Jesus was down for his God when He had to carry that rugged cross up Calvary’s Hill. Jesus was down for his God when he voluntarily laid down his life to die for us by the death on the Cross.
Jesus was down for his God when he said dont lift me if you do ill draw all men unto me. They lifted him up and he when reached down and got man by the hand and reached up and got God and said its Finished. He locked his head in his shoulders, gave up the ghost , and died.
He walked tall while being buried in a borrowed tomb, but early Sunday morning He rose with all power in hands claiming victory over SIN, Satan, and over Death.
