TITLE:  Davidic Covenant

 

TEXT:  2 SAMUEL 7  1 Chronicles 17

 

Objective:  When God says "no", it is for our very best.

He wants us to be totally submissive to His will and then God will bless us abundantly beyond our imagination.

This is to teach the Davidic Covenant.

Summary of 1 Chronicles

        a.

Explanation:  Remember they days when kids sold newspapers on the streets, shouting “Extra, Read all about it.”

Well, this is the daily chronicle, with an editorial on David.

Since there is one Chronicle, it represents 1 Chronicles.

Overview:  The two books of Chronicles are divine “editorials” priestly recollections and interpretations of the historical facts surrounding the life of God’s people from the reign of David to the Babylonian exile.  1 Chronicles recounts the righteous reign of David.

Chapters 1-9 catalog David’s ancestry dating back to Adam, and chapters 10-29 focus on the details of David’s administration.

Through out the book, the emphasis is on proper worship of the one true God—worship of David’s life consistently exemplified.
