Jesus is a son.
Yes, Jesus is the son of God, but he is also the son of Mary.

Every mother has a story what is Mary’s Story?

Born is nazareth
Possibly a descendant of King David
She was betrothed to Joseph
She was a virgin
The greek word virgin translates to mean young, unmarred, and implies virginity. Betrothal might take place as early as 12 years old, and lasting usually a year. It was binding as any other marriage contract though without sexual relations.
Mary’s journey to motherhood was incomparable.
Mary Pregnancy was unique
There was a divine announcement (Luke 1:30,31)
Nancy and I found out she was pregnant with Jackson her passing out in church and needing to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
A Jesus birth ()
Although her journey to motherhood was incomparable, her life as a mother was similar many of yours.
She endured the pain of child birth.
At times she struggled financially to provide ()
She had to protect her child from danger.
She had anxieties over her child.
She struggled with doubt.
She remembered the precious moments ()
More importantly Mary was a disciple herself.
She acknowledges her sons authority ()
Mary is at the cross with the other disciples ()

What is your story as a mother?

There are lots of wonderful moms here today. Moms in traditional families. Moms in special circumstances. Single moms. Step moms. Step in moms.
There are lots of wonderful moms here today. Moms in traditional families. Moms in special circumstances. Single moms. Step moms. Step in moms. You deserve our honor today. You deserve breakfast in bed. Lunch in bed, if you want. A pendant. Flowers.
You deserve our honor today. You deserve breakfast in bed. Lunch in bed, if you want. A pendant. Flowers.
However most of you will receive some type of beautifully written card, and if your lucky your family might right something of meaning in the card.
Normally its some sort of acrostic that spells out M-O-T-H-E-R.
M stands for the millions things you’ve done for me.
O stands for how old you really are .( family is always snarky)
T stands for the tears you have shed.
H stands for the heart you have the is pure as gold.
E stands for your eyes that bright up my day.
R stands for right, because you are always right.
Gifts are usually recieved with mixed emotions.
Primarily because no human mom fulfills her role as perfectly as the mom in that acrostic.
Because no human mom fulfills her role as perfectly as the mom in that poem.
Ladies read and hear the affirmations at times like Happy Mother's Day to the mom who keeps the perfect home. Happy Mother's Day to the mom who sets the perfect table. Happy Mother's Day to the mom who's raising the perfect kids.
Happy Mother's Day to the mom who keeps the perfect home.
Happy Mother's Day to the mom who sets the perfect table.
I now realize that I have put pressure on my wife to be everything society says she should be instead of the women God has called her to be. I can clearly see know why she receives our gifts with mixed emotions.
Happy Mother's Day to the mom who's raising the perfect kids.
Mary had mixed emotions I’m sure as she stood at the cross with, “The disciple that Jesus loved.”
She probably felt like a failure .
She had to be in pain as her son hung in agony.
But amazingly she stood near the cross.
Women’s Bible Commentary Jesus’ Mother and the Beloved Disciple (19:25–27)

Jesus predicted that all the followers would abandon him at his death, scattering to their own homes (16:32), but the women stand firm

She had to be super close because Jesus is able to speak to her.
Jesus predicted that all his followers would abandon him at his death, but his mother stood firm.
She had to be super close because Jesus is able to speak to her.
For those you here this morning in pain or possibly feeling like a failure, I believe Jesus is speaking to you this morning. He is saying enough:
You Are Enough
Why because Jesus is enough! The work on the cross is enough for us all.
The finished work of the cross will sustain us if we place our trust in Jesus.

V.26,27 Jesus says to his mother, “Woman here is your son, and to the disciple, Here is your mother.”

Jesus in his dying moments, cared for his mother, in the same way she cared for him through the years. Her well being was his last care as he hung on the cross.
In keeping with biblical teaching to honor your parents () Jesus made provision for his mother. ()

In keeping with biblical injunctions to honor one’s parents (Ex 20:12; Dt 5:16), Jesus made provision for his mother, who was almost certainly widowed and probably in her early fifties, with little or no personal income.

At this point she was most certainly widowed and probably in her early fifties, with little or no personal income.
He secured for her an adopted son, obtained her a home, and made sure someone was with her as she grieved.
Likewise, he said to the disciple who he loved, “Here is your mother.”
Jesus words reveals the heart of his ministry here with the creation of a New Family of God.
The creation of this family is symbolized by the beloved disciple taking Jesus’ mother into his home.
Jesus was rejected by his own, but the new family of God is marked by acceptance, not rejection.
The new family of God is born at the foot of the cross and marked by love and faith.
Today friends it’s no matter what you done, no matter how many times you have failed, you need to know that you enough!!
You need to know that God that The Family of God acceptance you just as you are, and is here to encourage you on to love and faith.
No need to hide, No need to put on a front, you’re enough.
If you know this message is fro you this morning please stand with me.
