Today, we have come together to reflect on Nora’s life, share in her loss, and most of all to celebrate her home-going together.. my goal is to bring you a tangible message of truth and hope.
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Paul is saying if you understand Moses’ experience then we can better understand the experience of the christian believer.
The title of todays discussion is going to be called “Transformed from Glory to Glory”
Just a few verses before Paul is referencing Moses when he talks about this transformation.
You Gotta See This!
You Gotta See This!
records that:
Then God said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you, Aaron, his sons, and worship from afar..”
“Moses alone shall come near to the Lord, but the other shall not come near… “
Moses wrote down all the words the Lord spoke to him and went and told the people all that He said.
And the people answered with one voice and said “All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do.”
Moses woke early the next morning and built an alter at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars, that represented the 12 tribes of Israel.
Then they worshiped the Lord with burnt offerings & peace offerings..
The he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people.
And he took half of the blood and threw it against the alter and half he threw on the people.. which symbolized the blood covenant the Lord made with them in accordance with all He spoke to Moses.
English Standard Version Chapter 24
9 Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up, 10 and they saw the God of Israel. There was under his feet as it were a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness. 11 And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ate and drank.
Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel went up and saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was something like a pavement made of sapphire, clear as the sky itself. But God did not raise his hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw God, and they ate and drank.

Moses spent 40 days and 40 nights on Mt. Sinai alone w/God.
Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel.
Above the expanse over their heads was what looked like a throne of sapphire, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man.
Ezekiel 1:26
After the Lord showed Himself to Moses, Aaron & his sons, and the 70 elders. The ate a covenant meal in God’s presence.
Then God called Moses up to the top of the mountain and the Bible says, “the glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days.
after he had fasted in the glory for 6 days.. on the 7th day God called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
Moses was on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights.
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”
Can you imagine what it must of been like to have been watch this huge cloud descend on the mountain?
When God spoke the mountain shook!
And can you imagine what it must have been like to see what the Bible describes as a devouring fire?

1. Transformation Is A Process
1. Transformation Is A Process
New Spirit-Filled Life Bible Chapter 3
because the veil is taken away in Christ.
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
A. Of the unbeliever he says:
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18
Explanation:
Explanation:
I believe our scripture text shows a pattern for the process!
A. Christian believer :
1. when Paul says “we all, with unveiled face”-Salvation!
In the day of Moses he was the acting mediator between God and the people..
But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away.
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
A. Christian believer vs. the unbeliever
B. The unbeliever.. the bible says:
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
2. “beholding” is also translated “reflecting” -Getting into God’s Word!
2. “beholding” is also translated “reflecting”
Moses would read the book of the covenant to the masses now we can read God’s word and see Christ reflected
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

3. “from one degree of glory to another” or as some bible versions say “from glory to glory”… describes a process of spiritual growth..-Seeking Him through Prayer & Fasting!
However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

4. “transformed into the same image”; “comes from the Lord who is the Spirit”..-Anointing Comes! Greater Revelation Comes! New Levels ! Freedom Comes!
these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.

This transformation takes place in the Arena of Life..
Life
The Bible Warns Us:
Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
Illustration: THE DRIFT-THE BEACH
She offered to make me breakfast
As many may know we took some time traveling for the winter months this year.. we called it our “Epic Winter Escape”. Like Nora one of our kids favorite things is to go to the beach! We bought them body boards to ride the waves..
Of course we don’t let them go out very far they are usually in water just above their waste. It’s a fun time and if we would let them they would stay out there for hours. I will admit I am probably one of those over protective parents.. call me crazy but as a father I feel like it is my responsibility to make sure I do everything I can to protect them and keep them out of harms way.
When we goto the beach the get the same speech every time:
1. Make sure you stick together and don’t leave anyone behind.
2. Don’t go out too far..
3. Always stay out in front of where we are sitting so you can see me.. if you can’t see me I can’t see you.
4. Be careful not to allow the current to take you down the beach… another words watch out you don’t drift!
Application:
Conversation with Nora
Transformation The Lord
Transformation The Lord
You know Nora and I had a conversation about this over breakfast one morning. She knew I had to leave for work early that morning so the night before she asked if I would want her to make breakfast for me. I told her no that’s ok I know you need your rest, but she insisted it was ok that she would be up. We were camped out in our 5th wheel on the back of their property so on my way out, around 5:30 am, I saw the living room light on and stopped. Sure enough there she was already getting started with the eggs and bacon out ready to go. When I walked in I told her I could make breakfast.. she didn’t have to make it I could but again she insisted it was ok, that she would make it. To say this was a first would be correct… I know I won’t forget it for several reasons:
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
1. We talked about the Lord and we talked about how easy was to drift.
2. It starts out that you get your eyes off of God for a second and before you know it you are not where you started.
3. She told me she wasn’t ready to die..
Like Leeann I take comfort in knowing she had someone to pray with her not only for the healing of her body but the healing Nora specifically prayed for “the healing of her soul!”.

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
The waves of life can throw you around, take you under, and throw you off course.. we have a real adversary too that would like nothing more than to distract us from the Transformation God would like to do in everyone who will let Him..
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Universalism: The doctrine that hell is in essence temporary and that all intelligent beings will therefore in the end be saved.

They got discouraged by all thought Moses was done… he’s not coming back.
In spite of all God had done they got eyes off of the mountain.
While this may be “politically correct” I don’t believe it is “biblically correct”, it is not consistent with what the bible teaches.
They like children went to Aaron and said “We are bored!”
So like many people do they made for themselves something to to worship other than God.. a golden calf.
Long story short God ended up sparing them from themselves because Moses interceded on there behalf…
Jesus is our mediator!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

2. Transformation Is Eternal
2. Transformation Is Eternal
This “TRANSFORMATION” transcends the experience Moses had.. it is ETERNAL!!
This “TRANSFORMATION” transcends the experience Moses had.. it is ETERNAL!!
When Moses met with God the Glory changed his appearance..
He would take a veil and cover his face because he didn’t want those around him to see the glory fade!
The we can now experience through Christ will never fade!
This transformation is eternal!
It is usually in times of tragedy that people turn to God or they become a universalist:
Universalism: The doctrine that hell is in essence temporary and that all intelligent beings will therefore in the end be saved.
Universalism: The doctrine that hell is in essence temporary and that all intelligent beings will therefore in the end be saved.
While this may be “politically correct” I don’t believe it is “biblically correct”, it is not consistent with what the bible teaches.
There are a few myths when it comes to “eternity” and death:
Despite popular opinion we don’t sprout wings & fly around in the clouds..
You hear people say I know you grand pappie is watching over you..
Of the young that pass they say, “God must of needed a little angel”.
God is not a fictitious character with a red suit and a white beard
Your bible isn’t like a magic lamp you pick up of the shelf, rub and get 3 wishes.
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
For everyone life as we currently know it will come to and end…
In most cases you can’t schedule it..
Conclusion:
Conclusion:
For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?
Moses pleaded with God to see more of His glory..
Moses pleaded with God to see more of His glory..
His experience with God is one of the most intimate encounters between a man and God ever recorded..
Moses hungered to be in God’s presence..
Ex 34
The firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before me empty-handed.
But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.”
So he hid him in the cleft of a rock..
covered him with his hand..
and allowed him to see his back..
but not his face!
Through Christ we have a much better covenant.
Through Christ we have a much better covenant.
through moses the glory faded away.
through Jesus the glory multiplies!
Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.
