Introduction:
Today, we have come together to reflect on Nora’s life, share in her loss, and most of all to celebrate her home-going together.. my goal is to bring you a tangible message of truth and hope.
Paul is saying if you understand Moses’ experience then we can better understand the experience of the christian believer.
The title of todays discussion is going to be called “Transformed from Glory to Glory”
Just a few verses before Paul is referencing Moses when he talks about this transformation.
You Gotta See This!
records that:
Then God said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you, Aaron, his sons, and worship from afar..”
“Moses alone shall come near to the Lord, but the other shall not come near… “
Moses wrote down all the words the Lord spoke to him and went and told the people all that He said.
And the people answered with one voice and said “All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do.”
Moses woke early the next morning and built an alter at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars, that represented the 12 tribes of Israel.
Then they worshiped the Lord with burnt offerings & peace offerings..
The he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people.
And he took half of the blood and threw it against the alter and half he threw on the people.. which symbolized the blood covenant the Lord made with them in accordance with all He spoke to Moses.
9 Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up, 10 and they saw the God of Israel.
There was under his feet as it were a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness.
11 And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ate and drank.

Ezekiel 1:26
After the Lord showed Himself to Moses, Aaron & his sons, and the 70 elders.
The ate a covenant meal in God’s presence.
Then God called Moses up to the top of the mountain and the Bible says, “the glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days.
after he had fasted in the glory for 6 days.. on the 7th day God called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
Moses was on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights.
Can you imagine what it must of been like to have been watch this huge cloud descend on the mountain?
When God spoke the mountain shook!
And can you imagine what it must have been like to see what the Bible describes as a devouring fire?
Moses spent 40 days and 40 nights on Mt.
Sinai alone w/God.

Can you imagine hearing the voice of God, described in the Bible, like many waters?
When God spoke the mountain shook!
And can you imagine what it must have been like to see what the Bible describes as a devouring fire?

The is a common theme that runs between Moses’s experience and the words of Paul.

The Bible Warns Us:
Illustration: THE DRIFT-THE BEACH
She offered to make me breakfast
As many may know we took some time traveling for the winter months this year.. we called it our “Epic Winter Escape”.
Like Nora one of our kids favorite things is to go to the beach!
We bought them body boards to ride the waves..
Of course we don’t let them go out very far they are usually in water just above their waste.
It’s a fun time and if we would let them they would stay out there for hours.
I will admit I am probably one of those over protective parents.. call me crazy but as a father I feel like it is my responsibility to make sure I do everything I can to protect them and keep them out of harms way.
When we goto the beach the get the same speech every time:
1. Make sure you stick together and don’t leave anyone behind.
2. Don’t go out too far..
3. Always stay out in front of where we are sitting so you can see me.. if you can’t see me I can’t see you.
4. Be careful not to allow the current to take you down the beach… another words watch out you don’t drift!
Application:
Conversation with Nora
Transformation The Lord
You know Nora and I had a conversation about this over breakfast one morning.
She knew I had to leave for work early that morning so the night before she asked if I would want her to make breakfast for me.
I told her no that’s ok I know you need your rest, but she insisted it was ok that she would be up.
We were camped out in our 5th wheel on the back of their property so on my way out, around 5:30 am, I saw the living room light on and stopped.
Sure enough there she was already getting started with the eggs and bacon out ready to go.
When I walked in I told her I could make breakfast.. she didn’t have to make it I could but again she insisted it was ok, that she would make it.
To say this was a first would be correct… I know I won’t forget it for several reasons:
1.
We talked about the Lord and we talked about how easy was to drift.
2. It starts out that you get your eyes off of God for a second and before you know it you are not where you started.
3.
She told me she wasn’t ready to die..
Like Leeann I take comfort in knowing she had someone to pray with her not only for the healing of her body but the healing Nora specifically prayed for “the healing of her soul!”.
