God Needs Workers
God Needs Workers
Jesus came and finished His work. Then he delegated that work to be carried on by others.
Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Christians are to carry on the work of Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:9
For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
The work of preaching the Gospel to the whole world and helping people be saved is so monumental, that the need for laborers may never expire.
Luke 10:2
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
The Responsibility
The Responsibility
The responsibility for the work is clearly laid on the shoulders of those who are Christians.
Matthew 28:19-20
Colossians 1:28
2 Timothy 2:2
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
If Christians do not carry on the work of Christ, who will?
The Attitude
The Attitude
The attitude of Christians should be one of willingness to work for God and teach others.
2 Timothy 2:24
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
Isaiah’s attitude is exemplary.
Isaiah 6:8
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
What Would Jesus See Us Doing?
What Would Jesus See Us Doing?
If Jesus were to return now, what He find us being busy about?
Matthew 24:43-51
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Conclusion
Conclusion
Do we act as if God doesn’t really need any more workers in His vineyard?
Do we act as if it is the responsibility of others, such as the preacher or elders?
Do we act as if it is work we don’t want to be doing?
Do we act as if we have all the time we want and put it off until later?
