How to Thrive in Your Breakthrough
The promise land is an epic story of breakthrough. It is defined by a
supernatural move, a godly character, a dependency on Heavenly Father, and
continuous desire for more of His promises to move from the heavenlies to
here on earth.
For We are more Than Conquers!
Romans 8:35–39 NLT
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves
us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in
danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are
killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these
things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. (More than
conquers in Christ who loves us) 35-37
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither
death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our
worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from
God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in
all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
more than conquerors, hupernikao (hoop-er-nik-ah-oh); Strong’s #5245:
From huper, “over and above,” and nikao, “to conquer.” The word describes one
who is super victorious, who wins more than an ordinary victory, but who is
overpowering in achieving abundant victory. This is not the language of conceit,
but of confidence. Christ’s love conquered death, and because of His love, we are
hupernikao.
Joshua knew who he was in the presence of God
Numbers 14:6–9 NLT
Two of the men who had explored the land, Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of
Jephunneh, tore their clothing. They said to all the people of Israel, “The land we
traveled through and explored is a wonderful land! And if the LORD is pleased with
us, he will bring us safely into that land and give it to us. It is a rich land flowing
with milk and honey. Do not rebel against the LORD, and don’t be afraid of the
people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection,
but the LORD is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!”
We must stand faithful in who God says we are
Be Strong & Courageous
Joshua 1:6–9 Courageousness, LEADER TRAITS. A leader’s courage develops from
the fruit of encouragement.
Moses reveals this leader role while shaping the young leader-to-be Joshua:
1) He encourages him in leading God’s people into the Promised Land (Deut.
31:7), and he encourages him as he emphasizes the seriousness of his task
(v. 23).
2) 2) Then, the Lord Himself encourages Joshua after Moses is dead (Josh.
1:6), enjoining him not to fear, but to be strong and courageous (Jos 1:9).
3) The officers of Israel’s army also encourage Joshua, promising their loyalty
and urging him to take the leadership (Jos 1:16–18). Those who would
shape leaders, encourage them. Those who would follow, do the same.
We all need to be encouraged - Jesus needed it, the great
leaders of the Bible needed it and so do we!
Ephesians 4:14–15 NLT
Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown
about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try
to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the
truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of
his body, the church.
Running Away or Running To
Share my ‘What About’ story
Joshua wanted to run away when things started going different then what God
said would happen
Joshua 7:6–7 NLT
Joshua and the elders of Israel tore their clothing in dismay, threw dust on their
heads, and bowed face down to the ground before the Ark of the LORD until
evening. Then Joshua cried out, “Oh, Sovereign LORD, why did you bring us across
the Jordan River if you are going to let the Amorites kill us? If only we had been
content to stay on the other side!
We might think it is easier to go back to what we are used to, instead of finding
out why the situation is not going the way God said it would (Friends from TC
leaving early).
But like Joshua and the elders, they ran into the presence
of God… not away
Joshua 7:8–11 NLT
Lord, what can I say now that Israel has fled from its enemies? For when the
Canaanites and all the other people living in the land hear about it, they will
surround us and wipe our name off the face of the earth. And then what will
happen to the honor of your great name?”
But the LORD said to Joshua, “Get up! Why are you lying on your face like this?
Israel has sinned and broken my covenant! They have stolen some of the things
that I commanded must be set apart for me. And they have not only stolen them
but have lied about it and hidden the things among their own belongings.
It’s in His presence that you find breakthrough and thrive in
it!
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of
witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down,
especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race
God has set before us.
If you are tired of 'Running Away' from the uncomfortable situations, unfamiliar
experiences, God’s calling on your life, or even just from yourself, then start
'Running To' in a different direction - into the arms of Jesus.
He will strengthen you to finish the race and receive the prize (Philippians 3:14).
But we must show 'initiative'
James 4:8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands,
you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the
world.
Not the other way around. No matter where we are at in our journey, we need
to have the mentality that we can learn if we want to move forward.
We must be 'teachable'
Proverbs 1:7 Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise
wisdom and discipline.
Finally, we must remember that we are on the winning team, if we choose to
live for Christ. He has made us into a new creation.
He is our” Rock”! We must proclaim that we are 'immovable'
Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in
whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of
safety.
Amen!
