Intro: There are a lot of arguments, conflicts, and even wars over who has the authority.
The person with the authority has the right to give orders, make decisions and enforce obedience.
When someone does not like the person who has authority over them they may look to take away that authority.
When there is an amicable relationship between the subject and the one who has authority the dynamics may build to be a mutual relationship.
Be careful that you are not power hungry and you want to sit in the chair because of simple power.
Some people want to be in a position of authority because they like the ring to the title.
The problem will be that you will not have any subjects because your character is not attractive.
Jesus shows us attractive Authority.
Jesus is one of power that leads with humility and compassion.
He does not Lord over his subjects but loves over his subjects.
This great characteristic of Jesus is the example of true servant leadership.
The master of all becomes the servant of all.
This attitude makes it easier to come with a humble heart into the presence of the all powerful God.
We will look at the power of Jesus and his attitude of humility along with another person of authority and understanding of power.
We will also look to see what this faith in Jesus power looks like and how we will benefit from having this faith in Jesus.

The text tells us Jesus returns to Capernaum.
This fact points out that Jesus has frequent this location.
The respond that Jesus is familiar with this location is this is where Simon lives.
Simon’s house in Capernaum is mention in the gospels.
This is also the location of many of the gospels recorded miracles.

This also speaks to why Jesus is well known because of his presence there and the work of his amazing ministry.

We should always seek the Lord in every aspect of our lives.
The knowledge of the power of Jesus leads the Roman officer to Jesus.
Come with humility
This officer who has authority over the people who can order all around.
Roman soldiers have the legal right to press people into labor.
This was shown in Marks gospel when the soldier pressed Simon into carrying the cross of Jesus.
But this soldier comes with humility...

Know the Lord is mighty to save.
Know Jesus is the son of God.
Therefore has the same power of God.
Jesus is the source of our salvation.
The soldier came with this kind of faith.
He shows his faith in Jesus authority
Learn to trust the Lord’s will.
Know the Lord is Good.
Know the Lord’s will is good and his love endures forever.
Knowing the Son of God gave his life for you, what will he withhold from you.
Jesus is looking to reward this faith.

Faithful is our God, and we are not worthy
He is holy and we are not.
Our God is holy and we are not.
Our God is worthy of all the praise and we are not.
Trust God because he is holy and just.
Our faith in the goodness of God moves us to trust God.
Trust God is easy because of his great love toward us.
The Roman officer was able to lean on the compassion of Christ because he did not feel worthy to have Jesus as his house guest.

He also shows amazing faith in not needing Jesus to come to his house.

He trust the command to be carried out.
He shows his power of a command that leads to the affirmative result.
This man shows us how we should trust God.
We are to carry out his word in our lives and know that God will work it out for his good which is for our good.
The commands he gives us are always good to accomplish his good will.
God’s word brings life.
Obeying the word of the Lord leads to peace in our relationship with him.
There is judgement for lack of faith.
Jesus teaches us the faithful will be welcome into the kingod.
The Gentiles will be welcome to the great banquet.
The Israelites who are not faithful will be judged.
Live out your faith and serve the Lord.
The invitation has been given who has accepted?
Those who have accepted are living by faith.
Come into the presence of the Lord.
Come to the Lord and see his power move in your life.
Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Trust in the Lord and see that he is good.

The Roman soldiers’ faith in the Lord was rewarded.
His faith in the power of Jesus was demonstrated in his life.
Jesus could have gone to the house to perform the miracle.
However, Jesus did as the soldier requested and said the word.
“And the young servant was healed that same hour” ().
Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus.
The Soldier not a Jew comes to Jesus trusting he is mighty to save.
He believed in the power of Word of Jesus.
